It was a weird film, but not in the good way. There were some good intentions peppered throughout it, but the segments were largely disjointed, the acting was awful, and the symbolic βhorrorβ elements were utterly ridiculous.

At various points, we see characters fantasizing about murdering men in a colorful assortment of ways. As a significant lunar event grows near, we see how each of the women in the various couples are affected by it and how they respond in turn.
Those with a keen eye might remember Hannah Gross from her portrayal of the young Penny Fleck in Joker (2019), a film I loved. I was pleased to see her involvement here from the previous year. Fat Tuesday was far from perfect, but I liked it.

The whole production does feel very amateur and ad libbed, but thatβs precisely what makes it work. Itβs realistic in its surrealism as it follows the characters around that evening in almost voyeuristic fashion, aiding us in feeling what they feel.
