Legacy appreciates Senator Cornyn and the Houston Food Bank celebrating National Food Bank Day at our East End facility to learn about our Food Rx program and how we are partnering with the food bank to address food insecurity across the Houston region.
We urge congress to #protect340B program. The 340B program makes it possible for Community Health Centers to purchase medications at a lower price. This allows Community Health Centers to provide their patients prescriptions at a lower cost. #340b#ValueCHCs
Legacy stands with Black Americans and communities of color. As a health center grounded in providing services to all people, we understand that we can’t discuss health & wellness w/out addressing the injustices that disproportionately affect POC. We see you& march alongside you.
As we have previously stated when public charge policies appeared last year, Legacy will stand with our patients and continue to look out for their best interests – at every level of government.
Legacy is disheartened to see the proposed #PublicChargeRule finalized by the federal government, which penalizes legal immigrants for utilizing public assistance programs such as food stamps, government-subsidized housing, and Medicaid.
as the President announced in his most recent State of the Union, if we adopt policies that force legal immigrants living with HIV to forego the healthcare services they need out of fears of losing their chances of permanent residency.
Help thank @BorrisLMiles@GeneforTexas & statewide Texas HIV/AIDS Coalition for SB1283, which Gov. Abbott signed on 6/15. It makes clear that Medicaid patients have access to HIV meds immediately following diagnosis & makes HIV meds a “protected class” in state law. #TXLege
We thank Rep. Price Sen. Buckingham & @TxeHA for passing SB670 which Gov. Abbott signed on 6/15. It allows FQHCs to provide telemedicine/telehealth/tele-pharmacy to Medicaid patients, increasing access by connecting providers & patients over internet. #TXLege
We thank Rep. Phelan & Sen. Buckingham for passing HB1576, which Gov. Abbott signed on 6/15. This increases access for Medicaid patients by allowing transportation by @Uber & @Lyft; Legacy is proud to work with Rep. Phelan and Sen. Buckingham on this issue. #TXLege
Texas senate bill 17 would allow health care providers to discriminate against patients or clients who are LGBTQ, or seeking women’s health services, and/or seeking HIV services, solely based on deeply-held religious beliefs.

Texas lawmakers didn't take up gun control measures in a school safety hearing nearly a year after the Santa Fe High mass shootings. Instead, they coalesced around strengthening campuses and increasing mental health initiatives. https://t.co/loEmy7UTJY
An HIV patient is said to have been cured for just the second time. The success may guide scientists to a new strategy for ending AIDS. https://t.co/VOz7DBExjQ
