@s25becker@JakeAGame You're mad that they hired professional actors? Really?
Also why do you care how much a company spends to make a video game? I don't remember people being like "Marvel movies need to hire lesser known/even maybe less talented actors and directors to keep costs down!"
@SeraphonNyx@AsDrawnByGinger@DrJDoomwits Idk man people can like absurdist/fun scenes where a film embraces its own ridiculousness. Already if you like the MCU you’re probably not one of those dorks who think hyper realism is the only way in movies.
Unclear what they’re upset about. They’re protesting a film produced by Israelis, ft Israeli soldiers confessing to what they did in Gaza. Are they mad that the filmmakers solicited these confessions? Or are they mad that the soldiers are not being lauded for the war crimes?
Despite the fines and mounting pressure, Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair continues to honour Palestinian children killed in Gaza.
This time, it’s Lana, 12, and Bana, 8, who were killed alongside their family in an Israeli attack earlier this month.
@RobGarrison11@PabloTorre@pablofindsout I mean "involved with" in some sense he is, regardless of whether he knew it was a scam ... in the sense that he's put his word behind the organization and encouraged others to give, even painfully give, to that org.
@RobGarrison11@PabloTorre@pablofindsout Sorry do you think it’s not a story that life surge is scamming people? You think that’s not important and worthy of attention by hard working/smart people?
@slop_bucket@fagfather@JeremiahDJohns I actually think they might not be: in fact a lot of times the people who pick up something quickly … aren’t great at explaining that concept to someone who can’t pick it up the same way. But regardless sure I agree higher teacher pay is important.
@slop_bucket@fagfather@JeremiahDJohns I will say, while very popular in the 90s and early 2000s, "oh let's bring in real professionals, they'll be great at teaching!!" has always ended in disaster. And personally I have never seen a relationship between SAT scores and teacher quality.
@JeremiahDJohns So you have to teach for 7/8 periods a day, getting a combined lunch-break/planning-period, but 45m is nowhere near enough to lesson plan & grade every homework assignment.
Do you (A) sacrifice lesson planning, (B) assign less HW, (C) work 11 hours day for a job that pays shit?
@AlexMLeo Yes how noble of you to speak out against the extraordinarily powerful "troubled teens, preteens, and toddlers" demographic that has a vice grip on America's politicians.
@billytcl@ckieser13 I think you can probably see the problem from jump.
Separately, there were also obviously major funding implications for that year's state tests. (Teacher evaluation based on testing wasn't a thing then, but it is in some places now.)
@billytcl@ckieser13 I very briefly did a student teacher gig at a school at risk of losing accreditation. Every other Monday they did practice state testing, not including the regular quizzes/tests. The practice state testing was used for both tracking and for test-taking skills.
