Over the past two months, I've been campaigning on ground in Zafarwal, engaging with over 150 villages. Here are some key observations:

1. Despite the beauty of rural life, waste management is a pressing concern, villages are cluttered with heaps of garbage.

2. Traditional drainage systems are overwhelmed and insufficient, there’s an urgent need to modernize rural infrastructure to handle sewage and wastewater.

3. A noticeable absence of recreational spaces for children and young folks in villages where they’re needed the most.

Punjab will need a very strong and well funded system of local governments to serve the needs of rural population. This must happen right after GE 2024.

PS: There is a stark contrast between the lived realities and the digital discourse on Twitter.
