#OpeningDay was fun and saw many firsts for the Rays, but it wasn’t the first time the team played a regular-season game outdoors & on grass

In both ‘07 & ‘08, the team played a series at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando. They swept the Texas Rangers & Toronto Blue Jays.

On 6/21/08, the Rays played as the “St. Pete Pelicans.” Edwin Jackson was the starting pitcher against the Houston Astros, who were also wearing throwback uniforms. Gabe Gross hit a 2-run walkoff double to left against Doug Brocail to win 4-3 in front of 29,953 at Tropicana Field

@ChickenMan3010 earned election to the @BaseballHall in 2005.

15 years ago, 22-year old Evan Longoria became the 1st member of the Tampa Bay Rays franchise to compete in the MLB #HomeRunDerby.

The event was held as part of the 2008 MLB #AllStarGame in New York, the final season of old Yankee Stadium.

They won 12-straight games from June 8-22 that summer.

This years’ Tampa Bay Rays* broke the franchise record yesterday, winning 13 straight games.

They can also break the all-time Major League record for most consecutive wins to begin a season
