July 16, 1976
Amid tensions after Gregg Allman testifies against the bandβs road manager, The Allman Brothers announce their breakup. Gregg records with his wife, Cher, while Dickey Betts forms Great Southern. The band reunites in 1978.
#OnThisDay in 2018, Guns 'N Roses epic music video for "November Rain" became the first 90s video to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. As of today, it's at 2.4 billion!
π΅ Fun Fact: #BootsyCollins was 17 years old when #JamesBrown hired him as his bassist in 1969.
He was so good that the entire band essentially built itself around where Bootsy decided to put the one.
He later joined #Parliament Funkadelic and invented a completely different approach to bass that hip hop producers are still sampling 50 years later.
Seventeen years old.
The low end of American music has been feeling Bootsy's influence ever since.
Who is YOUR pick for the most influential bassist of all time? π

π΅ #SabrinaCarpenter stands 5'1" tall.
She is currently outselling, outcharting, and outstreaming virtually every other artist on the planet.
Please Espresso and Short N Sweet spent the entire summer of 2024 lodged permanently inside every brain on earth whether those brains consented or not.
Height is not a factor in world domination apparently.
What 2020s artist do you think will still be relevant in 20 years? π

πΈ On July 5, 1954 a 19 year old truck driver from Tupelo Mississippi walked into Sun Studio in Memphis and recorded That's All Right.
The DJ who first played it got so many call-in requests he played it fourteen times in a row that same night.
#ElvisPresley never drove a truck again.
Sun Studio cost $4 an hour to rent.
The recording that changed American music forever happened on a Tuesday afternoon for less than the cost of a hamburger today.
Drop a πΈ if you've ever stood inside Sun Studio.

πΆ #Bono once said that #TheEdge doesn't play the guitar.
He plays the space between the notes.
Think about that for a second.
The most recognizable guitar sound of the 1980s wasn't about what was being played.
It was about what wasn't.
Sometimes the silence is the whole song.
