Team Hernandez was proud to attend the grand opening of New Hope Housing Avenue C, a new affordable housing community for seniors in Magnolia Park.
Congratulations to New Hope Housing and its partners on this milestone. Everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
Joe “Chaco” Ramirez was a hero. He spent more than 3 years as a prisoner in the Korean War and still chose to re-enlist.
I was proud to support naming a street in his honor in his home neighborhood of Magnolia Park. Thanks to @JMartinez4Hou for leading and to @houmayor for hosting us in your office!
It’s a banner day for Latino legacy in Houston!
As Chair of the Senate Committee on Transportation, I’m proud to support TxDOT’s Work Zone Awareness Week.
With more than 1,800 active work zones across Texas, safety must come first. Last year alone, 203 lives were lost in work zone crashes, most of them drivers and passengers. Slow down, stay alert, and give our crews the space they need to do their jobs safely!

Protecting Texas children is one of the most serious responsibilities of lawmakers, and we will treat it that way—especially in an increasingly digital world.
After recently speaking with Rep. @donfortexas, I was alerted to a graphic, first-person shooter game on the online platform Roblox recreating the tragedy at Robb Elementary and targeting young users. That alone is indefensible. But it’s not an outlier—it reflects a broader failure to prevent violent, explicit, and predatory content from reaching children.
Today, I issued an additional interim charge directing the House Committee on State Affairs to take a hard look at these failures and hold platforms like Roblox accountable—focusing on content moderation, age verification, and prevention of exploitation and predatory contact between minors and adults.
When nearly 40 percent of Roblox’s 144 million daily users are under 13, there must be zero tolerance for weak safeguards and indifferent oversight. Platforms that allow content glorifying real-world violence are putting children at risk.
The Texas House will not look the other way while companies aimed at children permit—and profit from—this kind of environment. Accountability is coming, and we will be ready to act.
I am grateful to Rep. McLaughlin for raising awareness of this issue, and to Chairman @KingForTexas and the State Affairs committee for taking this on and working toward better protections for our next generation.
What a night! Thank you to everyone who joined us for the @PinkGraniteTX Mix and Mingle in Houston on Wednesday. Grateful for a community of women who lift each other up 💕💗💖💞
How is it possible that none of Elon Musk’s DOGE workers who stole our Social Security data have been arrested? I know there’s a million things happening, but this should be a much, much bigger scandal.
Today marks 103 years of Texas Tech University! From a bold vision on the South Plains to a national research powerhouse, Texas Tech’s story has always been defined by grit, innovation and West Texas resolve. And the momentum we’re building today is setting the pace for what comes next.
As Chancellor, I am proud to be part of the Red Raider family and tradition — and I am confident in Tech’s unmatched potential to lead our state and nation into the future. #texastech
Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
We honor the brave men and women who keep our communities safe.
Texas always stands with our law enforcement officers.
Our condolences to the family of the Honorable Jon Lindsay, who passed away yesterday. He was the first Republican Harris County Judge, elected in 1974. He later served in the Texas Senate, retiring after the 2005 session. After his unexpected retirement, I ran and won that seat in 2006.
He was a well respected leader for decades in Harris County and the Texas Senate and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
