LAZARUS MOKGOSI FACES BEING PUNISHED AND LOSING ONE MONTH'S SALARY.

The North West Provincial Legislature's Ad Hoc Committee has recommended that Premier Lazarus Mokgosi be given a written warning and lose one month's salary and allowances.

The committee says Mokgosi was involved in attempts to interfere with the appointment of the Municipal Manager at Naledi Local Municipality in 2023 while he was ANC Chief Whip.

The allegations were made by Naledi Mayor Clifton Groep, who claimed Mokgosi asked former municipal employee Thabo Appolus to change an interview report to stop Modisenyane Segapo from being appointed.

Mokgosi denied all the allegations during the hearings. However, the committee found that he acted against the Legislature's Code of Conduct and recommended disciplinary action.

The report has now been sent to the Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature and will be tabled before the House for a final decision.

Their destination: Mossel Bay, where the diesel could potentially be piped into Eskom’s open cycle gas turbines and burned to keep loadshedding at bay.

When the tankers arrived, however ��� Jag Pushpa on 11 May and Centennial Matsuyama on 16 May – they found there was no room at the inn: PetroSA’s storage tanks were full.

With demurrage costs increasing at $35 000 (R650 000) a day, PetroSA “scanned the market” looking for a buyer and settled on a little-known company, Nako Energy, who offered to buy the diesel at a hefty discount.

Nako didn’t qualify for credit and PetroSA would make a R19-million loss, but hey, this was an emergency.
