Leicester National Education Union (NEU)
As the largest education union, we have a powerful voice and are effective in winning improvements to our members’ work
Snapshot of our march and rally yesterday supported by Leicester and District Trade Council, reps from Unison Leicester City @UNISONLeicCity, reps from @UCU_DMU and @UoNUCU and @LeicesterNeu
Thank you everyone✊🏻🚨
Step 1 - choose a picket line. I was on @GMB_union picket line at Blaby DC. Watch out for significant updates on this dispute. @UNISONLeicCity support workers at Ash Field Academy and @LeicesterNeu teachers were also out. Next stop NEU rally in Town Hall Square.
Trades Council on @BMA_JuniorDocs & @HCSANews junior doctors picket line at LRI today. We stood with supporters from Unison, Unite, GMB, NEU, & PCS and got great support from passing cars, bus drivers & passengers. Solidarity!
We know that you have voted before, but Britain’s anti-trade union laws dictate that we must re-ballot members every 6 months to renew our mandate for industrial action.
We need your vote in our re-ballot to win a fully funded, above-inflation pay rise. #DoYourJobGill#PayUpNow
STATEMENT: Following the incident at Tewkesbury Academy our thoughts are with all the staff, pupils and parents involved. Our thoughts are also with the teacher who has been injured. This is a shocking incident. Violence has no place in our schools and colleges. School is somewhere all school staff, students, teachers, and support staff should feel and be safe.
I didn’t make it to a picket line today. Apologies for that but we send our solidarity to all @NEUnion strikers, particularly the ones that did make the picket line.
It’s been a busy day. Tomorrow (Thursday) @UNISONLeicCity support workers are striking at Ash Field Academy and on Friday @NEUnion members are back on strike. They would appreciate a visit to say hello. See NEU map for location of picket lines. Solidarity to all strikers!
