Today I euthanized a tiny chihuahua named Cupcake. Her owner was a little old man, at least in his 80s. Cupcake has been his companion since his wife died 13 years ago. Through his tears, he thanked me. He was so worried the vet office would be closed due to Coronavirus.

He was grateful that Cupcake didn't have to suffer.

Watching him cry, it was so difficult not to hold his hand or give him a hug. As much as I wanted to comfort him, I didn't want to unknowingly spread illness.
