PhD visa applications should *never* take a year. They should never take a month!
If the University vouches for someone as a phd candidate wtf else is there to know? Do a security check and issue the visa.
Honestly, this is the easiest class of visa there is.

We have been waiting for student visa for over a year. We have had to defer the offer three times already, and if it is not granted by September, we will miss out on this valuable opportunity.

@j_laurenceson Pakisani as we as Iranian PhD students are very depressed as years has passed but visa application status is still ' further assessment'. And when call to DHA, answer is security check. We care, follow and respect rules but 2 years processing for 3 years study visa is not fair.
