Laying my dad to rest yesterday was absolute hell.

Hearing the sirens as he took his last ride on the fire truck, getting the flag presented to me and listening to his last call on the radio, broke me to my core.

It is truly rewarding when your children willingly choose to spend time with you. Raising teenagers may not always be glamorous and can often feel unappreciated, but moments like these make all the effort worthwhile. We also enjoyed a mile-long walk and chatted more.
