The fact that Chelsea went for Emiliano Martinez simply means one thing: Xabi Alonso wants to win now.
He’s not interested in a two year, three year project. He wants to win now and I absolutely love it.
Another by-product of Xabi Alonso’s arrival that we can’t ignore is how Jamie Carragher seems to be less critical of Chelsea.
I don’t want to jinx it but having his old mate there might win us some grace with that Bru this season. 😂😂
What a summer!
People talk about how he is also error-prone, fair.
But what Dibu brings to Chelsea is a confidence and mentality upgrade. He will make the back line better and more confident too and that alone is worth the transfer.
Not to mention, total sh*thouse. 😂😂
This is good future-proofing, because I can see especially Hendo in a coaching role after he retires. But. Spine of experience (Welbeck, Hendo, Lacroix and now Martinez) is as intentional as it gets. Heads of departments secured. 😅😅
The experienced players at Chelsea don’t have egos and will willingly help the ‘kids’ to develop, setting themselves up for managerial careers, yes?
The ‘kids’ get guidance and mentality upgrades without feeling pressured, then step up ready a season or two later.
A win-win.
I’m glad Chelsea finally have a front of shirt sponsor again.
I do think from a design perspective the writing could have been white to balance the yellow/gold.
Petty observation, but happy it’s not blank still.
I can never look at the phrase “Period of self-reflection” the same.
Chelsea brought in a top manager, experience, upgrades in positions we desperately needed, sold players for audacious prices, and brought in a front of shirt sponsor all since the loss to Sunderland.
Mad. 💙
Chelsea needed a defender- he brought in Lacroix
We needed experience - he brought in Henderson and Welbeck
We needed a goal keeper - he has brought in Emi Martinez
Xabi Alonso I love you 💙
