During yesterday’s Parliament Q&A period, PM Abiy Ahmed perplexed in the extreme reflected on the absurdity of the claims of the hordes of bloodthirsty ignoramus thugs claiming to be liberators and freedom fighters.

“There is an Ethiopian saying, ‘If it be the the Creator's will, let Him not give you an enemy. If he does give you an enemy, let him not give you an ignoramus for an enemy.’

“An ignorant enemy does not kill today (the present), he kills tomorrow (the future.) An enemy kills you right now. An ignoramus enemy will make sure he kills you today and tomorrow by forbidding your child to attend school. The ignoramuses PM Abiy mentioned will set up a kakistocracy (Greek: kákistos ('worst') and krátos ( 'rule'), meaning “government by the worst in society”. It is a government run by the least qualified, incompetent, unfit, uneducated, unprincipled, uncouth, unscrupulous, uncultured, unruly, unbalanced and unsavory characters in society.

The Ethiopian kakistocrats will continue to do what they have been doing for the past 3 years at an industrial scale if they seize the levers of government. They will incite violence against specific ethnic or religious groups to consolidate power. They will continue their heinous ethnic cleansing and ethnic-based violence and crimes. They will continue to rob civilians and travelers at makeshift check points they set up. They will continue destroy private property and public infrastructure, hospitals, clinics and schools.

They will continue to arrest, torture and execute those they suspect to be supporters of the Ethiopian federal government. They will continue their kidnapping-for-ransom business and extortion rackets.

They will target intellectuals, city residents, doctors, lawyers, clergy, and teachers. (They have already executed hundreds of teachers and school children.) She will seek and make available resources and opportunities to enable members to discharge their professional responsibilities in a manner that effectively serves their clients, champion the rule of law, uphold the legal system and promote the cause of justice.

I believe Ms. Meseret if elected president will make significant contributions to the Ethiopian legal profession through leadership, advocacy, and institutional development. She will advance legal education and training for members, promote diversity and equity for women lawyers, strengthen judicial independence and the rule of law, and modernize and reinvigorate the operations and services of the Federal Bar Association.
