The male gaze is more than an aesthetic choice of whether to show butts or not. It mimics how men see the world, their values, and how much respect is afforded to each kind of person. They claim it's not important, but they notice immediately when it's gone and begin complaining.
Can't help but feel the government should probably have a text alert noise that is at least slightly different for "don't use a disposable barbecue for a bit, please" and "NUCLEAR WAR HAS BEGUN".
LLMs routinely hallucinate citations and papers, or make up false passages and authors. LLMs have no place in research, period. These days, I don’t even really trust Google, or any algorithmically-driven search engine for research. Citation is an ethics practice. Period.
i don’t think a lot of people understand that even if ai was completely environmentally neutral, or even positive, you should still be against it. it’s making everyone dumb and fucking insane. it will be the downfall of our society
I need people to understand, AI can't read, it can't understand your question. It uses pattern recognition. If you're using it for research, its not research, its selective and biased results based on pattern matching, if there's no pattern it fills the blanks with false info.
Watching Andy Burnham talk of reforming #socialcare in England with despair because the sad fact is that the true cost of #care is not understood. The public do not know the real cost. The regulators do not know the real cost. The government itself doesn't even know the real cost
@grace_hawthorn The lesson his daughter will learn, like all of us learn eventually is that she is entitled to so much more than the men around her will ever be able to conceive, let alone permit.
Why do people think black women are built differently to white women? That they naturally have Y chromosomes and testes and high T?
Seems a bit racist, no?
@CrazyVibes_1 Never to old - so many senior cats or with manageable medical conditions are left languishing in rescues. sign up with pet guardian scheme (blue x or cats protection in uk) to take cats should something happen to you and get yourself a good cat sitter for any temp. challenges.
As another man who once worked with me declares himself saddened by my beliefs on gender and sex, I thought it might be useful to compile a list for handy reference. Which of the following do you imagine makes actors and directors who aren’t involved with the HBO reboot of Harry Potter so miserable?
Is it my belief that women and girls should have their own public changing rooms and bathrooms?
That women should retain female-only rape crisis centres?
That men don’t belong in women’s sport?
That female prisoners shouldn’t be incarcerated with violent men and male sex offenders?
That women should remain a protected class in law, because they have sex-specific needs and issues?
That language should reflect reality rather than ideological jargon, especially in a medical context?
That women shouldn’t be harassed, persecuted or fired for refusing to pretend humans can change sex?
That women should not be threatened with violence and rape when they assert their rights?
That freedom of speech and belief are essential to a pluralistic democratic society?
That troubled minors, especially those who are gay, autistic and trauma-experienced, should be given mental health support instead of irreversible surgeries and drug treatments on non-existent evidence of benefit?
That gay people shouldn’t be pressured to include the opposite sex in their dating pools, nor should they be smeared as ‘genital fetishists’ when they don’t?
That cross-dressing heterosexual male fetishists aren’t actually oppressed, but having the time of their lives piggybacking off gender identity ideology?
That said ideology, and the privileged, blinkered fools pushing it because they suffer zero consequences themselves, have done more damage to the political left’s credibility than Trump and Farage could have achieved in a century?
Let me have your thoughts.
@sophiegrenham Get a cat sitter - cats are always happier in their own territory. Cat sitters will visit once or twice a day and most decent ones will send you photos/updates everyday.
A 15-year-old girl who had loved wrestling since she was four got put on a mat against a fucking male while the adults in charge knew exactly what they were doing.
She didn’t know. They did. By the end of that match she was sobbing and running to her mother after getting digitally raped through her singlet. She still had to shake the bastard’s hand. Her own coaches just walked the fuck away.
Her mother reported it the next day like any decent parent would. The law and their own policy said report it to the Title IX coordinator immediately and get law enforcement involved within 48 hours.
These gutless fucks did nothing for 53 days. Fifty-three fucking days of silence while they protected their precious policy and kept letting males into girls’ sports.
Only when a journalist started asking questions did these cowards suddenly remember how to do their fucking jobs. The next day they finally filed the report.
The principal had the balls to call the mother afterward and say they take this shit “very seriously.” Seriously? You spineless pricks sat on a sexual assault complaint for nearly two months and only moved when the press showed up.
And what did it cost? The girl quit wrestling. A sport she’d loved since she was four years old. She quit because she no longer trusted the adults in charge to protect her. Students bullied the shit out of her after the story broke and not one coach or administrator lifted a finger to stop it.
They protected the policy. They protected their own asses. They left the girl to carry it alone. Fuck every last one of them.

It is very alarming how many MPs seem to be unaware of the fact that the law will remain the law regardless of whether the EHRC guidance becomes statutory or not.
MPs make laws. That is their job. And these >120 seem to not understand how the process of making laws works.🤦♀️
"It's better to define all women by gender stereotypes than by sex because if you do the latter, some of them might briefly, accidentally be defined by gender stereotypes"
A Labour voter all my life (71 now) but I have never felt as ashamed of @UKLabour as I do now, watching MPs queue up to explain why they’re abandoning women, proving that they’re happy for my granddaughters to have fewer rights in future than I have had. Wretched cowards all.
It's like pretending the male students who threw endless mantrums about women entering higher education were the same as students protesting the Vietnam war.
