Horrible, horrible horrible news about Ka. it's rare to have a figure so uniformly beloved by a community and agreeably great at his craft.

I'm always thinking about this Armand Hammer interview from '14 that Ka happened to walk in on. very telling as to how his peers see him

@hardlybjorking Works especially well with records that weren’t too expensive! Spending half a days salary on a record only to figure out that you don’t like the music is something I have done but don’t need to repeat 😄

#NowPlaying here as well! For me there is no other record where I go from “it’s amazing” to “it’s dreadful” and back as often as this one. The bass on this is truly beautiful but I think I never really clicked with either Garbarek or Jarrett. It’s fun to listen for why that is

#NowPIaying #Jazz 1974 Germany. Back in the Garbarek zone. This is a perfect example of why so many early ecm albums hit such a sweet spot. Unique sound and artists but also some songs on this really swing (spiral dance, and ‘long as you know you’re living yours’). Top tier stuff

@geoffwilt It somehow has become very easy for movie studios to ignore the things people with actual knowledge on the topic have to say. That has become especially evident regarding all these current movies about musicians (e.g. Amy Winehouse)
