The film tells the story of a teenager who accidentally hacks into a military supercomputer and almost starts a nuclear war. Most interestingly, it influenced real discussions about cybersecurity in the United States and is frequently cited as one of the works that helped popularize hacker culture in cinema.
It's incredible how the urban setting of Gattaca (1997) evokes the idea of the future while clearly flirting with film noir. However, what's most interesting is how the film's settings remind me of Gotham from the Batman: The Animated Series (1992).
