d. Ask questions instead of giving opinions

Gave a workshop to engineers recently who were having trouble being heard. The problem wasn’t the data. It was how they were presenting it. They’re so focused on the numbers they forgot the most important part - the people behind the #’s. #JayOlstadSpeaking#JayOlstadStorytelling
As we move back into our “new normal”, I handed out & had students turn in paper for the first time since the fall. I organize their assignments in these folders that I’ve had for over a decade when @Lufkin_S gave them to me as a student teacher. A reminder of the impact he had!

I know students might not remember or appreciate the content we teach but I sure hope they can remember us as caring people who wanted the best for them! I can tell you nobody thanked Mr. Lufkin for teaching them the quadratic formula but they sure were thankful for his (2/3)
I assume everyone takes the opportunity to teach their 3 month olds about fractions, decimals, and percentages while updating them on how many fingernails they have clipped. Right?
