I finished secondary school in 2022. I didn’t want to go back to my parents, and with how the Nigerian system is, I told myself no school until I start making money and finding direction.
In 2023, I got a job at a laundry earning 20k a month. I knew that kind of money couldn’t give me the life I wanted, so I started looking for opportunities online.
I tried different things, including online surveys, but I failed at first because I didn’t really understand it. Then I came across digital marketing. The first course I saw was 65k — that was three months of my salary, so I couldn’t afford it and concluded it wasn't for me.
Not long after, I found another one for 5k. It sounded unreal, but I gave it a try. I got access to the course, and that was the turning point.
I took it serious as if my life depended on it and ofcourse it depended on it, : First month after my training I made— 35k
Second month — 54k
Third month — 96k
From that point, I never had a month without income even if its the least 30k
Towards the end of 2023, I connected with someone who taught me online surveys. This time, I understood it better. Within one week an update came and I took advantage of it and made over £400.
That money changed a lot for me. I rented my own place, bought some things like tv, curtain, home theatre, pots and plates for myself, and stopped sleeping at my workplace.
In 2024, I traveled to Lagos to improve my digital marketing skills and spent over 600k on that journey.
Long story short — God has been faithful.
Around 2012, I was struggling to find my place in tech.
Then Facebook posted a photo of its engineering team and I saw a Black engineer who looked like me.
I later learned he was Nigerian. His name was Ola.
That moment made the dream feel possible.
I kept that photo as my screensaver for 3+ years. Every time I felt like quitting, I reminded myself: “If he can do it, why not me?”
Today, @ola works at OpenAI.
And after 14 years, I finally get to meet him.
You never know who’s watching you… Or whose life you’re changing just by showing up.

Between 2015 & 2020 PMB Government earned just ₦6Tr and Borrowed about $22.5bn
Between 2010 & 2015 GEJ Government earned ₦51Tr and borrowed $64bn
Now add what Abacha, Abdusalami, OBJ, Yar'Adua & PMB earned together, it was not up to what GEJ earned in just 5 years, yet, he still borrowed & built absolutely nothing, I mean, apart from cassava bread, & the picture of 2nd Niger bridge, what exactly did GEJ commission in 5 years, whether existing project or new
My concern is really not because he didn't build anything, but, how come he still had to borrow to pay salary
How come PMB had to bail Governors out in June, 2015, just few days after GEJ left, how come the Abuja-Kaduna railway had to be built by loan, What happened to all the money Nigeria earned under GEJ
Let it be Known that, the ₦51tr earnings was only from crude oil. Custom & excise duties Tax & other revenues are not included ooo

In 2018/19, my salary was ₦114k.
I lived in a ₦250k self-contain in Lugbe, FCT.
Money was tight. Saving wasn’t easy.
But I never saw the salary as income.❌

𝘚𝘰 𝘐 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺:
Growth over comfort.
🔹Enrolled for ACCA (paid in GBP, one paper at a time)
🔹Spent 3 months’ salary on CITN direct membership
🔹Stuck with my low-budget phone 😀
🔹Even started an MBA… and dropped out when I couldn’t pay tuition😕
Not convenient. Not pretty. But intentional.
𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴.
Not savings obsession ❌
Not lifestyle inflation ❌
Not “enjoyment first” ❌
Growth first. ✅
Because I was certain of a principle:
𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿.
And that conviction hasn’t changed.
Here’s the takeaway:
Instead of complaining about your "small" salary, turn it into a seed for a better tomorrow.
The best form of investment is not the one that grows your money, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿.💪
Have a productive week. 👏

@ummuh_Zahra I’m surprised that a lot of people believe this fiction. How can a woman, knowing her man has a zero sperm count, still go ahead to marry him and remain faithful to him for six years without getting pregnant by another man?
@AdediranAfolabi@ChelseaFC@kk__kels Same crop of players that finished six last two season, same crop of players that finished fourth last season and went ahead to win two trophies. They may not be to the standard but they're good enough to take us to Champions league next season
