@neilturkewitz@jlabsllc It's OK to be deeply concerned about both.
There's no tradeoff between these concerns.
Both concerns point in the same direction:
Stop the misanthropic hubris & reckless development of the AI industry.
Dennis Ritchie created C in the early 1970s without Google, Stack Overflow, GitHub, or any AI ( Claude, Cursor, Codex) assistant.
- No VC funding.
- No viral launch.
- No TED talk.
- Just two engineers at Bell Labs. A terminal. And a problem to solve.
He built a language that fit in kilobytes.
50 years later, it runs everything.
Linux kernel. Windows. macOS.
Every iPhone. Every Android.
NASA’s deep space probes.
The International Space Station.
> Python borrowed from it.
> Java borrowed from it.
> JavaScript borrowed from it.
If you have ever written a single line of code in any language, you did it in Dennis Ritchie’s shadow.
He died in 2011.
The same week as Steve Jobs.
Jobs got the front pages.
Ritchie got silence.
This Legend deserves to be celebrated.
Among the largest foreign pledges are:
$1.4 trillion from the United Arab Emirates
$1.2 trillion from Qatar
$1 trillion from Japan
$600 billion from Saudi Arabia
$500 billion from India
Is this really what we're looking for?
For those who need to hear this:
Trump says America has attracted $21 TRILLION of investment and therefore he can pay every adult American a $5,000 “Trump dividend.”
These are completely different things.
First, I can’t verify the $21 trillion.
The White House itself currently claims $11T+ of announced investment commitments, many spread over years and not money already invested.
But even if the full $21 TRILLION were real:
THAT IS NOT GOVERNMENT MONEY.
A company spending $100bn building data centres, factories or infrastructure in America does not put $100bn into the Treasury for Trump to distribute.
Second, $5,000 for roughly 245 million adult US citizens is around $1.2 TRILLION.
Where does that money actually come from?
Congress would need to authorize the spending.
If there isn’t an equivalent $1.2T of additional revenue or spending cuts, the government borrows it.
No corresponding revenue = larger deficit.
Larger deficit = more Treasury debt.
And injecting another ~$1.2T of purchasing power into the economy could add inflationary pressure depending on economic conditions and how it is financed.
Trump has also connected the dividend to tariffs.
But tariff revenue isn’t remotely close to $1.2T.
And tariffs are taxes on imports collected from US importers, with most of the cost ultimately falling on American businesses and consumers.
There is no magical $21 trillion pot of money sitting in Treasury waiting to be distributed.
Investment.
Government revenue.
Government spending.
Government debt.
Four different things.
Learn how the monetary system actually works before politicians buy your vote with your own balance sheet.
Every second…yes, SECOND, not day…that passes, I become more and more convinced that Trump had one primary task: to weaken the United States of America and make it as vulnerable as humanly possible.
There’s been evidence to support that theory for a long, long time.
In my not so humble opinion, I think we moved past it being a theory…years ago.
"Germany two days away from extinction” - Trump.
Trump: “Show me a green energy country and I'll show you a bankrupt country. You know, Germany tried it, they were about two days away from extinction. We abolish all of ….”
Trump flapping his gums again about renewable energy, claiming Germany tried it and was "two days away from extinction."
Naturally, the MAGA crowd just eats it up and claps right along to the fantasy of an entire country vanishing.
Except... Germany is very much still here, and they're doing just fine.
Trump loves to paint green energy as a doom loop, but the reality on the ground completely exposes his lies. True freedom isn't staying hooked on oil and gas controlled by dictators and autocrats. Green energy is real sovereignty.
Let's look at the actual facts:
Dominating the Grid: For the full year of 2025, renewables supplied 55.1% of Germany's total electricity consumption (ringing in at about 290.2 terawatt-hours).
Growing Fast: By the first half of 2026, that share actually climbed to roughly 57%.
Solar and wind are literally powering more than half of Germany's daily life.
So next time you hear Trump spinning wild fairy tales about countries going bankrupt or facing extinction over clean energy, remember he's just selling you yesterday's garbage to protect his fossil-fuel buddies.
🚨The legendary Mike Tyson just said he "DOESN'T CARE" if the Left attacks him for being a PROUD TRUMP SUPPORTER.
"I voted for him... I'm very proud of him... I don't care if you hate his guts... You have to respect him..."
God bless @MikeTyson.
Another way to think about Trump announcement today: If he increased US diesel imports from Canada by 4%, he would gain as much fuel as from this Russia deal. But the Canadians are global super-villains, so who wants to buy from them when you could enrich Putin instead?
Who is advising Donald Trump on his speeches? Letting him stand at a White House podium and endlessly ramble about legal cases to put a Christopher Columbus statue back in Columbus, Ohio, before completely confusing his own bizarre 250-foot Washington D.C. "Triumphal Arch" with a defensive military complex, makes the entire administration look like a complete, unhinged circus.
Instead of addressing anything that actually matters to the country, he's up there shouting out his "Italian lawyer" and treating historic monuments like a cheap personal playground. The guy is completely detached from reality and nobody in the room has the courage to turn off the microphone.
This isn’t apocalyptic. It’s just math.
10-year treasury at 6%. $40 trillion in debt.
Do the math. That’s $2.4 trillion in annual interest payments.
Larger than the entire Social Security disbursement.
You cannot sustain that.
Here’s the solution: just going back to the Clinton tax rates and making a few adjustments, you could save $10 to $12 trillion in deficit spending over the next decade and get this thing under control.
No Republican is going to do that. Trump isn’t going to do that.
And when Trump leaves office, he will be personally responsible for 42% of all the national debt in American history.
The New York Fed has now put a number on what any first-year economics student could have told you for free. According to its researchers, tariffs added nearly three percentage points to goods inflation by early this year, and without them the price of everyday goods would actually have been drifting gently downward. The entire rise, in other words, was homemade.
This is not a malfunction, because it is precisely how a tariff works. It is a tax collected at the border from the American importer, who then passes it along to the American shopper, which means the trillions supposedly pouring in from abroad are in fact pouring out of Ohio.
That a president can stand at a podium and claim foreigners are paying may be the single dumbest thing the world has ever been asked to believe. Elect economic illiterates to run a perfectly healthy economy, and this is the bill that eventually lands on the kitchen table.
I came across a Reddit post that described AI in a way I can’t stop thinking about:
“AI allows the wealthy to access skills while stripping skilled people of their ability to access wealth.”
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the purpose of AI captured so brutally and accurately.
He sold you out.
He and his family raked in about a trillion dollars and none of them will face justice for the same reason Fauci, Hillary and Obama won't.
Because it's a criminal cartel masquerading as bloods vs crips but their only true enemy is you.
