If I’m not mistaken the original pitch for GamePass is people would play the games and for the ones that really enjoyed they made the assumption the customers would go and buy the game at full price. Since people typically play a game and move on this didn’t happen. Xbox users believe that by paying a small $10-$20 fee they support Xbox. Most people who aren’t naive know this isn’t viable plus payouts from Microsoft are based entirely on CONSISTENT engagement. This is why some studios skip Xbox entirely, you can tell them all day to open their wallet a bit more and they just simply refuse which I see all in this thread

PC gaming is wonderful when everything works, when you’re inexperienced it can come with problems. I built my first PC in 2024 and didn’t have too much trouble BUT about a yr in 1 of sticks of RAM started to fail and the system would crash randomly, sometimes on start up or sometimes after a few hours my buddy who’s more experienced helped me troubleshoot over MANY of the times we were planning to game and we finally found the issue. I’ve also had AMD drivers straight up break and I’ve had to uninstall the drivers using the removal tool and reinstall everything, let me tell you that isn’t a 5 min fix. I’ve also seen where SOME old games aren’t compatible with modern systems so you then have to pour through forums to find fixes for games that you just assume would work, maybe they don’t have controller support for us couch gamers so NOW we have to download software to map button inputs. Not to hassle free if you ask me.

So I have a genuine question because I don’t know how much they pay out. GamePass PC is $15 and if I play the game for 1 month and cancel how much actually goes to The Coalition? I’m pretty sure GamePass payout is based on consistent player engagement and if that engagement falls off a cliff after official release how does the studio survive?
