#Leonardo has been recognised once again in @TIME World’s Most Sustainable Companies, for the second consecutive year.
Developed in collaboration with @StatistaCharts, the ranking assesses companies on three key dimensions: revenue growth, financial stability and environmental impact, confirming that sustainable performance and industrial competitiveness go hand in hand.
At Leonardo, #sustainability is not a standalone commitment—it is embedded in our 2026-2030 Strategic Plan and serves as a key driver of resilience, innovation, and long-term value creation.
In 2025, we expanded our long-term environmental commitments with two new strategic targets:
• Over 86% of electricity purchased across the Group to come from renewable sources
• Over 60% of material outflows are circular
This latest result builds on a strong track record: 16 consecutive years in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices, with the highest #ESG score in the Aerospace, Defence & Security sector, alongside the recent publication of our Transition Plan 2026. Through this plan, the company is committing approximately €1.2 billion in climate-aligned investments by 2030, with 79% of Group financing linked to ESG criteria.
Together, these achievements reflect a path grounded in consistency and measurable results, aimed at creating sustainable value for stakeholders and the broader ecosystem.

We are pleased to share #Leonardo's Transition Plan 2026, now available online.
The Plan integrates #climate and #environmental transition into the Group's industrial plan and long-term strategy, recognising it as a driver of competitiveness, resilience and value creation. At the heart of the Plan is a principle of building resilience across the transition, based on decoupling business growth from environmental impact. In 2025, we delivered tangible results:
• 44% reduction in Scope I & II emissions vs. 2020 baseline
• ~110,000 tons of CO₂ avoided through virtualisation initiatives
• 23% reduction in water withdrawals vs. 2019 baseline
• 22% reduction in waste generated vs. 2019 baseline
Built around three interconnected pillars — Climate Strategy, Natural Resources & Circularity, and Just Transition — the Plan strengthens our ability to address climate and supply chain risks, while enhancing the resilience of our industrial model.
Circa €1.2 billion in climate-aligned #investments (2026–2030) and 79% of Group financing linked to ESG criteria (€4.1 billion) reflect our commitment to turning ambition into action.
People are at the core of our Plan: 64% STEM-qualified workforce and over 37,000 employees trained on sustainability.
For Leonardo, long-term competitiveness increasingly relies on responsible growth, reduced fossil-fuel dependence, and enabling the transition through innovative products and solutions.

The #Leonardo#AW249 takes the sky at @ILA_Berlin, performing its first-ever public flight display in a live demonstration of next-generation combat helicopter capabilities.
Designed for the most challenging modern battlefield scenarios, it represents a step change in technology, combining outstanding performance, survivability and mission effectiveness. The AW249 can perform a variety of missions including aerial and ground escort, close air support, close combat attack and air interdiction. It can also execute reconnaissance operations, acting as information node within a complex C4 architecture (#ISTAR), using the surveillance systems to scan the territory, identify ground units (both friend and foe) for its own use or to disseminate the information through a secure channel to the Command & Control Centre.
Watch the video and see it in action! #ILA2026
Gian Piero Cutillo, Co-General Manager of Leonardo and Managing Director of @LDO_Helicopters, underlined: “The #AW249 provides evidence of our commitment to making helicopters evolve far beyond their traditional role in terms of architecture and capabilities, proactively embracing and integrating the latest technological trends while investing in a clear long-term roadmap. Much more than a new combat helicopter, the AW249 will act as a command-and-control node within the battlespace, capable of collecting, processing, fusing and distributing information in real time, orchestrating assets across domains to enable faster, better informed decisions and actions. Once again, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Italian Ministry of Defence, the National Armaments Directorate and the Italian Army for their trust, support and close cooperation throughout this programme that now can evolve into a new teaming strategy.” #ILA2026
At @ILA_Berlin, #Leonardo, fully supported by the National Armaments Directorate and Italian Army (@Esercito), announced an #AW249 international promotional strategy, setting out the programme’s modern deterrence and interoperability benefits as well as outlining industrial cooperation prospects to partners and allies. The result of strong collaboration between the Italian Ministry of Defence (@MinisteroDifesa) and Leonardo, the AW249 (designated AH-249A NEES - Nuovo Elicottero da Esplorazione e Scorta, and known as the ‘Fenice’) is the only Western clean-sheet combat helicopter design in development to meet stringent emerging operational requirements for the next 30+ years.
It leverages unique capabilities and technologies neither available elsewhere today on the market nor expected to be mirrored by other platforms before several years from its operational readiness, uniquely and ideally bridging a further gradual evolution of military vertical lift. To manage a rapidly evolving threat landscape, the AW249 features a complete open architecture with opportunity for significant further growth and integration of complementary capabilities in the future to respond to the operational landscape and demanding market requirements. The AW249 boasts high performance in speed, range, power margin and payload, Hot & High conditions and manoeuvrability for advanced nap-of-the-earth flight, and this performance is core to the AW249 in its ability to be fully integrated and interoperable in the modern multi-domain battlefield (#Air, #Land, #Sea, #Space, #Cyber). https://t.co/ztNvdTwPnU #ILA2026
Lorenzo Mariani, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of #Leonardo, said: “The result of a farsighted vision shared by Institutions and Industry, the #AW249 programme comes into play in a particular period considering the evolving global security landscape and, even more, Europe’s efforts towards stronger synergies in defence and security initiatives. The AW249 factually demonstrates Leonardo’s world-class expertise in platforms and electronics, allowing a full control of core capabilities while ensuring significant industrial collaboration opportunities and may represent one of our catalysts to support these European efforts. At a time when strengthening defence and security cooperation has never been more important, the AW249 stands ready not only to deliver operational superiority but also to create new opportunities for collaboration, on the continent and beyond.” #ILA2026
