@Raq_Murillo Kinda like how all of her accomplishments that made her a respectable, strong, and independent heroine were either shipped off to mummy and daddy or just thrown out completely. Felt like a character assassination. Luck and being angry is how Survivor Lara thrives.
@captain_fatdog In response to what you said about the poll results, I make a point of watching your videos because I always feel I will learn something new. Even when you're just goofing around with Raasclark.
@Ellioft1@MrDeskj Her sexualization was never the issue. It was the objectification. Of which the vast majority came from people complaining about her and reducing her to her looks, or calling her "Triangle boobs." Those who knew and loved her called her Lara.
@Ellioft1@MrDeskj I kind of agree with the second part, but not so much with that first part. Angelina herself was more sexualized in photo shoots, during interviews, and in her actual movies than Lara ever was. Then you take someone like Pamela Anderson into account and it's not even close.
@Ellioft1@MrDeskj Not nearly as popular, though. She was EVERYWHERE. Magazines, newspapers, radio, talk shows, news shows, etc. She was trending worldwide before YouTube and Myspace existed and she alone brought many new people into the gaming world.
@Ellioft1@MrDeskj Before the DLC's she did. It just wasn't delivered very well. But, I'm thinking more about the survivability of the franchise. The dark Lara we got just wasn't that popular in or out of the gaming community like classic Lara was. I honestly feel a return to roots would be best.
@Ellioft1@MrDeskj So, yes. Dealing with the trauma surrounding her father and overcoming her obsession that drove her to being as close as you can to having a death wish didn't actually mean anything because it was immediately replaced with something else that is, at its core, the same thing.
@MrDeskj There aren't many games nowadays that don't have a trauma driven hero. Not doing that would make her stand out more. Plus, she was more popular when she enjoyed what she did instead of being a slave to it.[2/2]
@MrDeskj I don't think she needs to be darker. Trauma, obsession, and death drive was already done in the survivor trilogy. I'd rather go on a wondrous adventure that pushes her to her limits. That'd be a great way to finally have Classic Lara reach her breaking point and shed tears [1/2]
@Tochka__25 I'm convinced that the reboot wasn't originally going to be a Tomb Raider game until well into development. It's one of the few things that makes sense as to why they stripped her of her skills, knowledge, and determination that she already had at that age in the originals.
