@TheLawyerCraig Craig, the rules are the rules. What you want has nothing to do with it. I don’t like seeing sprinters disqualified for a marginal false start , but it happens and I never hear the US athletes say “no, I want to beat the best”.
@jcoreybates@JGreenbergSez Picture this.. Olympic Games, 100m, false start. Jamaican athlete gets a DQ. Would you expect, or have you ever seen in your life, an American athlete saying “no, don’t disqualify him”.
Never ever. Because they’re the rules.
@JGreenbergSez If someone has a false start in a race (100m, 200m etc..), I’ve never in my entire life, ever, seen an American athlete say “let them race anyways”
@nahuelfutbol He’s in the most competitive team in Ireland that will likely be playing in Europe. He’s born and raised in Dublin, has only ever lived in Dublin and has a newborn child in Dublin. He’ll go nowhere.
@atoast2toast@byrne_david@rfwalsh86 I love this and I love seeing people be proud of their culture, especially when it’s an Irish person.. my only issue is I can only imagine how disgusted people would be if an English/Nigerian born Irish player did something similar and I think that’s hypocritical of Irish fans.
@tmurf22@alieltumi@KarlSeale Maybe not, I could be wrong, it was just my instinct that there was a bit of hypocrisy. Maybe I’m projecting my annoyance at those who are racist to some lads on the Irish squad onto this situation wrongly.
@zinzodin@alieltumi@KarlSeale Im not saying we shouldn’t support Pico. I love how well he’s doing. It’s class for Irish sport, I go to LOI games every Friday. All I’m saying though is it’s basically the same scenario, us expecting Pico to flaunt a tricolour puts him in a tough spot.
@tmurf22@alieltumi@KarlSeale I dont mind him wearing the tricolour, I love that he’s flying and Ive been up to watch every game. My original example then was the English players in our squad. If any of those wore an English flag after a game, would you respect and applaud it? I’m only pointing out hypocrisy.
@GaryWhite1997@MichaelMatisse@KarlSeale I tend to agree with you and wish more of our countrymen felt the same, I just don’t think they necessarily do. Unfortunately I fear there may be crossover between those far right idiots and those giving out about this tweet. I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy.
@alieltumi@KarlSeale Okay, let’s say one of the lads with Nigerian heritage wore the Nigerian flag after a big Irish win. How would that go down with Irish football Twitter?
