Just posted about our new Bioinfo-Software called TattleTail for the prediction of #Tailocins in Bacteria.
It appears that X's #AI algorithms recognize tailocins as "adult restricted adult content"...
@grok We "see what we want to see"?
Using TattleTail, we identified pyocin clusters in clinical P. aeruginosa genomes. After induction, we visualized tail‑like particles by TEM and confirmed their activity in killing assays.
TattleTail works – the predicted loci encode functional tailocins!
We often hear: “Phage therapy is not approved.”
But approval follows research, not the other way round.
We explore alternatives like tailocins and built TattleTail, a tool to detect pyocins in P. aeruginosa genomes.

Tailocins are phage‑derived protein complexes that kept the ability to kill bacteria but lost the capacity to replicate.
They are basically phage tails which target specific strains killing them with high specificity and efficiency, making them promising antimicrobials.
Fascinating insights from Jeremy Barr's talk on "Translating Phage Therapy into the Clinic"! The team developed a phage cocktail to tackle a nosocomial Enterobacteria outbreak at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. #Phage
Just heard an inspiring talk by @SkurnikMikael on his decades-long journey with Yersinia phages. From the early days of sequencing a phage by primer walking, (costing ~€50K!) to pioneering insights that shaped the field. A true phage veteran! 🦠📚 #phage#Yersinia
Hit 42 m on a single breath - a personal milestone in freediving I'm incredibly proud of.
Grateful to be coached by Jesper Stechmann (@Innerdive), 4x Danish champion.
Huge thanks to the Innerdive crew for everything!

10e26 phages/mL. Let that sink in. That's more phages than stars in our galaxy, fitting into a single milliliter. Some basic arithmetic might be needed.

Curious about #Phage research in Germany? 🌍
The latest article from the Fraunhofer Society highlights groundbreaking work from discovery to therapy, also featuring the Antimicrobial Biotechnology Unit @FraunhoferIZI, led by Belinda Loh (@BelindaLoh3)
In Texas, we learned how well organized and structured the processes are for phage therapy in the US, while also being thorough AND fast!
We have a lot of catching up to do in Germany...

Met my former postdoc Prasanth again - this time many thousand miles away from where we last worked together! We visited the @TAMU_CPT - it was great
@DrPrasanthM is such a kind person, a gifted and great scientist and a friend!
I had an incredible time with the @BelindaLoh3 team and @LeptihnLab at @FraunhoferIZI. A lot of #phage and molecular microbiology stuff! Such open-minded and kind folks. I am grateful for the hospitality, and I can't wait for future collaborations!
I would like to thank the team, especially my former Postdoc Prasanth Manohar @DrPrasanthM for the hard work!
Looking forward to future joint research!
