JUST IN: The fan who was involved in an altercation with Pittsburgh Steelers receiver DK Metcalf has released a statement after being accused of racism.
NBC reports a source close to Metcalf says the man called him "something we both know you don’t call a Black man."
The fan, Ryan Kennedy, who was also accused of calling Metcalf's mom a derogatory word, has since responded to allegations through a lawyer.
"Ryan Kennedy categorically denies using the "N-word," the "C-word," or any racial, misogynistic, or hate-based slur..." the letter read.
"These allegations are completely false."
Following the altercation yesterday, Kennedy told the Detroit Free Press that he had made fun of Metcalf's name.
"He doesn't like his government name. I called him [DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf], and then he grabbed me and ripped my shirt," he said.
The confrontation between the two was not their first encounter, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, who says Metcalf reported the fan to Seahawks security last season.
@RealWayneRoot@DPatrioticvet Nasty comment, I didn’t agree with him, nobody agrees on everything….terrible way to die and for their daughter to find them like that… shame on you👎🏻
Thoughts and prayers go out to Pittsburgh #Steelers superstar pass rusher TJ Watt.

Watt is currently in the hospital after experiencing lung discomfort.
