The water challenges currently affecting Gauteng are a stark reminder of the hardships many in villages and townships have endured for decades. For the first time, communities across all socio-economic backgrounds are sharing this experience. Water is a basic human right, and I am encouraged that the focus and attention we are giving to this challenge will lead to solutions that benefit everyone, across all communities and backgrounds.
It is a great honor to be recognized at the 4th AFRIHeritage Awards in Accra, alongside distinguished African leaders: Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, Honorary President & Former President of the African Development Bank (AfDB); Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd, Governor-General of Saint Kitts and Nevis; Ms. Antoinette Monsio Sayeh, Former Deputy Managing Director of the IMF; and Professor Lesley Lokko, Founder & Chair of the African Futures Institute.
