This is disqualifying. I don't care how smart you are, how nice a person you are, or what your politics are. If you've never tried a jury trial to verdict, you don't need to be a trial judge.
Sen. SCHIFF: Have you tried a case to verdict?
Trump nominee: I worked on a bench trial and handled seven as a clerk.
Schiff: The judge handles trials. Were you lead counsel?
Nom: No.
Schiff: Your trial experience is as second or third lawyer on one bench trial?
Nom: Yes.
WATCH — @SenatorWarnock: “ICE has more funding than the Marines. And Republicans are saying ‘if you don’t give this overgrown paramilitary force of masked agents more money, we’re going to leave TSA workers unpaid.’” 🤔
DOJ says, "One set of rules for me, another thee!" Hard to see why it would be okay for Government lawyers to lie in court when the rest of the Bar plays by the rules. https://t.co/F50EvR9N9v
Hell, working families would actually be better off if Trump had done nothing at all — because his policies are setting back the middle class. Americans are seeing higher costs from tariffs, skyrocketing premiums, and record jobs losses thanks to him.
So the FBI has time to raid an elections office in Georgia in order to prop up Trump’s conspiracy theories about losing the 2020 election… but not to release the Epstein Files?
Local police routinely, put officers involved in deadly shootings on administrative leave until an independent investigation is concluded. That should happen immediately. I can’t recall ever hearing a police chief immediately describing the victim as a “domestic terrorist” or a “would-be assassin.”
For calm to be restored, an independent investigation is the least that should be done.
The tragedy and chaos the country is witnessing in Minneapolis is shocking. The killing yesterday of Alex Pretti, a U.S. citizen, by ICE agents should raise serious questions within the administration about the adequacy of immigration-enforcement training and the instructions officers are given on carrying out their mission. Lawfully carrying a firearm does not justify federal agents killing an American—especially, as video footage appears to show, after the victim had been disarmed.
A comprehensive, independent investigation of the shooting must be conducted in order to rebuild trust and Congressional committees need to hold hearings and do their oversight work. ICE agents do not have carte blanche in carrying out their duties.
They had him on the ground. Six agents pinned him down. They disarmed him. They removed his gun from its holster. And THEN they shot him. Ten times. To repeat. AFTER they pinned him to the ground, and AFTER they disarmed him, they shot him. Ten times.
They murdered him.
Left hand on the ground trying not to hit the pavement; right hand still holding a cell phone. ICE person standing with a one handed grip pointing his gun right at the man’s head.
There is nothing about this that we should accept. We all must reject this. This is our government
Immigration enforcement, my ass.
Bondi's letter below—essentially offering to stop attacking and murdering citizens in Minnesota in exchange for the state's voter rolls—shows what Trump, Miller et al. are really after:
They want to fuck with the nation's elections so that they never have to cede power and never have to answer for their crimes.
Trump needs to go. He needs to be impeached and removed. Now.
I am doing my best to respond to this without a string of expletives. But let's be very clear: what just happened in Minnesota was cold blooded murder of a civilian by out of control federal agents, aided and abetted by the entire Trump administration and their fascist enablers.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed…unless you approach law enforcement.”
