"the character of a nation—I believe—is the character of many individual human beings; every national character is, in essence, simply human nature." V.Grossman
@JohnJCarvill@MarkLTighe You're not responding to the allegations against Geoghan.
He wants to be a leader, a spokesperson.
So it's fair to examine his character.
Do you think having 60 animals die on one's farm- harrowing details- in one year was good practice, or not paying taxes is a good example?
@LizaRutherford7@Irishchutzpah Certainly Haaretz is one of the few remaining Israeli publications not towing the government line. As for left and right, that's a nonsense argument. Newspapers are supposed to speak truth to power, but most fail in this simple, but daunting task.
@ConalCreedon Very sorry for your loss Cónal.
She was a wonderful person, so talented, positive and supportive. It was a great privilege for me to spend time with her over the last couple of years. She touched many, many people who will miss her dearly.
Brilliant local journalism from Tripe & Drisheen. I walked this river many times when I lived in Cork. It was a depressing insistence I had of going back over what appeared lost. But there's still hope for the Glasheen. @TDrisheen https://t.co/Oss7JdZgTY
@RealJohnLynch@solochamp07@stevethewall I don't know what you mean there, John.
All people need to accept the rights of others to exist. Israel is currently engaged in a genocidal war of extermination, with plans to reoccupy Gaza.
They will not find peace this way.

@RealJohnLynch@stevethewall Well, the situation in Palestine is nauseating. I feel sick when I read about what is going on there, and it has been going on for a long time. Here's a good overview. https://t.co/8LE8ZpM70J
For me there is no justifying violence. Only dialogue will bring peace.
@RealJohnLynch@stevethewall Well, I don't despise Bono. I think he's always been a bit weird. He quite rightly spoke out against the slaughter on Oct 7. But he hasn't mentioned the slaughter that has taken place since. That is inconsistent. A true humanitarian would question both atrocities.
@RealJohnLynch@stevethewall Not so simple, John. Oct 7 was a barbarous crime which had its seeds in the experience of Palestinian people under Israeli blockade & prev. occupation. The resulting genocide is depravity writ large as Benny clings to power with his extremist partners. https://t.co/XuYea3aTPq
When I heard about it yesterday I didn’t know he’d already accepted it. Seeing this photo today has sickened me to my core. Thinking of all the protests/gigs/fundraisers we’ve staged here for Palestine then to see him do this while Biden sends a further $8billion to kill more. 🤮
Interesting. Only Monty Don mentions climate change, while today's predictions for 2055 blithely overlook the thing that will most likely impact our geography and our ability to survive on this planet.
