So elated to be here at ATS2023 with my wife @epi_noel . We can spend the night being warmly embraced by friends and colleagues in a city where we are safe and respected and can focus on the science and the networking and the love around us.
In 2017, I walked home from an ATS party with my mentor, Mark Gladwin. We talked about life. I met people who shaped his journey. I knew then that he’d be a mentor for life. We walked those same streets chatting last night. So grateful.
ATS—your conference location choice means I have to worry about 1) open gun carrying 2) access to healthcare if I’m pregnant 3) whether members of my LGBTQ community can safely use the bathroom. Good choice. Seems suited to learning and career promotion. https://t.co/ehaDkUn7Wu
Difference between #OmicronWave last Christmas when weeks later 3,000-4,000 Americans were DYING A DAY and this Christmas:
🔹Masks have largely disappeared
🔹Booster uptake is abysmal
🔹Hospital usage is up due to worse Flu/RSV season
🔹Zero monoclonals effective on market
Fantastic Research in Progress presentation by @epi_noel discussing her work on the pulmonary microbiome and lung transplant outcomes 🫁 We are excited for your continued success and efforts in this area 👏
A lesson I shared with my MICU team this week and that I have been reminded of lately. Adapted from a slide I once saw from @efan75. Transfer to the MICU is not a substitute for hard conversations with patients and families.
Another great match! Can’t wait to welcome out next set of fantastic CCM fellows to the University of Maryland. Thanks to our faculty and fellows who helped us during this recruitment season. @UMdPCCM@ngshah1@vanholdenmd@ksrobinett
