Today's very very good news story.
This beautiful lad is kilo he is a 2 year old American XL Bully.
When the ban was announced his family made attempts to register him for exemption. Sadly issues arose with the application and neighbours reported him to the police and Kilo was seized.
Luckily his mum had kept evidence of all the attempts to register him and sought help from an independent behaviour expert to assess him in kennels confirming he was not dangerous.
The case came before the magistrates who despite granting exemption they also made it very clear that if the owner had not had proof of attempts to register and an expert behaviour report the outcome would have been very different.
We wish Kilo and his family all the very best for the future.

But mostly to say a very big and special thank you ❤️ to you all for the continued, and absolutely amazing Wonderful support.

We would also like to thank all the legals who have represented cases this year. Steve, Richard, Ian, Linda, Sam, Pam, Sarah, Shiraz.
All the independent experts who have done assessments on the dogs Debbie, Mike, Craig and Jeff.
Thank you
Merry Christmas everyone 🎄

Well. Mack made the news today an interesting read and we are so happy they mentioned the wasted taxpayers money as this happens so much but the red top newspapers and the government don't want you the public to know this..

Today's very good news story.
This beautiful handsome chap is Mack who was initially seized and assessed as a banned breed 'Pitbull type' in February this year.
He was assessed by the police expert who said he was a banned breed, but did allow him home on the Interim Exemption Scheme.
Independent expert Orion Dog Services, Mike Barnett went to assess Mack and after his very detailed and professional assessment he found that Mack did not meet the criteria.
The case was heard today and evidence given by both experts for the courts to make their decision. We are very happy to announce that the courts agreed with the independent experts findings which means Mack is not a banned breed and will now be free from the restrictions he had to follow whilst on IES.
This also means that the just over three thousand pounds requested in costs by the prosecution were not awarded.
We wish Mack and his lovely family all the very best for the future.
Many thanks to today's solicitor Steve and Mike Barnet for his assessment.

Today's good news story.
This handsome chap is 1yr old Ronnie. He was seized after he had jumped up at a delivery driver causing a minor incident.
He was seized three months ago and whilst in kennels he was assessed and found to meet the criteria of a pitbull type.
The case went to court last month and despite the injury being minor and Ronnie being a good boy the police sought a destruction order.
The case was adjourned to allow and independent expert assessment which was done and the case was heard in full today.
At court today the courts agreed with the independent expert that Ronnie was not a danger to the public and agreed to conditions being put in place and granted him exemption status.
We wish Ronnie and his family all the very best for the future.
With many thanks to Linda the solicitor for her work and My Dog Has Bitten - DDA UK Debbie Connolly for her assessment of Ronnie.

THIS HAS TO STOP😡
We have spoken with another family whose dog was destroyed due to a disclaimer being signed by someone else who is not the legal owner.
Bugzie was staying at a friend's house when an allegation was made by the friends partner who called the police and said he had bitten a child.
The police came and took Bugzie away and a disclaimer was signed. Bugzie was taken straight to a vets and pts. This was on the 20th September.
Bugzie was only 13 months old.
The person who signed the disclaimer later withdrew their statement but by then it was too late.
Once again the police have failed to do proper checks and not scanned his microchip for proof of ownership.
This is happening way too often and things need to change. We did have a petition running to say no disclaimers should ever be produced or signed at the point of seizure and that more stringent checks be made first as to who owns the dog in question.
Our thoughts are with the family and beautiful Bugzie 💔

Today's good news story.
We are often posting stories of cases that have been to court or dogs that have been seized but released with no further action.
Some stories often highlight all that is wrong with dangerous dogs act and the enforcement of it.
So here is a story with a difference.
Police turned up at a home with a warrant to seize 5 dogs that had been reported as pitbulls.
Whilst at the home the dog handler was concerned and contacted the dig legislation officer straight away. Who turned up to assess the dogs there and then.
The DLO gave an instant no they are not pitbull or types on 4 of the dogs but spent 20 minutes taking a more detailed look at dog number 5. Saying whilst this dog did have some characteristics they were not substantial enough.
This resulted in the police leaving the property without seizing any dog and satisfied none of the dogs were banned breeds.
This is a fantastic result for all concerned and gives good argument as to why a DLO should be present when a dog is reported as a banned breed as that could save a lot of stress to families, their dogs and extra work for kennel staff and the police themselves. And of course the taxpayer.

Today's good news story.
This handsome chap is Konan. After 12 months in kennels he has been returned home 2 days before court.
Konan was seized after an incident and assessed as a banned breed. An independent assessment was done which found Konan not type and the CPS said no further action regards to the incident. Despite this Konan was still held whilst they decided to do a civil application in regards to both.
But after a further assessment by another dog legislation who agreed and found Konan to be not type. The case for both had been discontinued.
Konan was returned home today to his family and we wish them all the very best for the future.
With many thanks to Steve the solicitor and team for their work and Orion Dog Services, Mike Barnett for his assessment of Konan.

Today's good news story.
This handsome chap is Silas a 3yr old lurcher. He was involved in an incident with a dog walker back in May this year. The walker had lifted his dog into the air and Silas jumped up causing a small rip to the man's coat.
Yesterday Silas' owner got back in touch to say they had received a letter to say there will be no further action. Luckily Silas was never seized.
We wish Silas and his family all the very best for the future.

Today's good news stories.
Two enquiries we have had in the last week one involving a 6 year old American bulldog and the second a an 8 year old lurcher have both been returned home today with no further action.
The bulldog had accidentally injured someone in the home whilst the lurcher gave a cheeky nip to the butt cheek of an officer who had banged his bum into his face whilst he stroked the lurchers best friend who was on the walk with him.
Sadly in other news Bailey's case was heard today and is going off to trial in December.
