No, that is the normal colorblind hiring typical of all employment since the 70's. They hire whoever does the best job. Otherwise their competitor hires better people and beats them in the market.

DEI is LITERALLY affirmative action to promote diversity because you've hallucinated prejudices and imagine you need to correct them by hiring a 2nd or third runner up to avoid whiteness, especially straight male whiteness.

DEI is LITERALLY the practice of hiring the 2nd, 3rd, or 10th runner up if you have to avoid hiring a straight white male.

I don't doubt a black pilot is skilled because he's black; I doubt he was the best applicant because there are 15x as many white pilots and a black pilot is just as likely to suck as them. But if the best applicant IS a black person; hire them. Larry Bird happens sometimes.

But DEI means if he's #216 we hire him instead of colorblind choice #1 and I don't want people to die because we want to target a diverse color palette instead of just hiring the best person for the job.
