Breaking down the automotive tech that shapes our world. 🚗⚙️ Weekly threads on Automotive engineering, EVs, and motorsports. | Automotive Engineering Student.
When you look at a car, all you see is the pretty paint and the aesthetic designs but guess what? That’s just clothing. The real deal is actually something else. Just like a person would be a shapeless heap without a skeleton, a car is absolutely nothing without its chassis.
"The Most Important part of your car Isn't the Engine"
You can have a thousand horsepower, a V16 twin-turbo engine and Verstappen’s driving IQ but the only thing connecting all that technology and brain power to the road is a few patches of rubber.
At the moment of impact, before your brain can even react, your car has already made a dozen calculations to save you.
We used to think rigid was safe. We were wrong. True safety is a controlled demolition.
Forget supercars. F1 cars are on another level. 🏎️💨
➡️ More downforce cornering than a Bugatti accelerating. ➡️1000+ HP from a 1.6L engine with over 50% thermal efficiency. ➡️Stops from 320km/h in under 4 seconds. ➡️Carbon fibre monocoque weighs < 40kg.
Recharging an EV (part 2)
Another method of recharging is called “Regenerative Braking”. In this method, every time you press the brake, the electric motor slows the car down, and this braking process actually generates a bit of electricity to top up the battery.
