WW is one of the modern's biggest queerbaiting tools in media and I'm tired of pretending it's ok because DC puts her in Pride covers once a year and everyone claps
calling Absolute Wonder Woman queerbait diminishes what Kelly Thompson is doing. Diana is obviously queer, her and Zatanna have a mutual attraction. Not every single thing needs to be written out, be smart enough to pick up on it and understand what subtext is. Iβm irritated
The fact that people think "exact same thought patterns" means evil Rogue clone instead of Rivals mimicking Rogue's most pivotal plot point that lasted 20+ years in the comics and fits the description perfectly is killing me bro. these normies are something else
Im fairly certain Rivals is teasing Carol in the text for season 8 but if it really is her that looks to be about as big of a redesign as we've seen from them and idk if I like that for Carol specifically
@blue_spooder I agree that it's silly when they speak out of turn and try to lecture comic reads on comics canon, but they're making fool of themselves online for thousands of people to see and thats punishment enough. Still doesn't mean they're not real fans of the character
@MerrickAnd I never said they're comics fan, I said they're a fan of the character. Many of these characters have transcended the medium decades ago
and yes, dan slott was a very intentional choice
@yourauntviv I think youre getting too angry at a fictional person you made up. Also some people just have specific interests or a limited budget and thats ok. If they're missing out on quality content, that's ok. you don't get to decide what or who theyre a fan of or not
Imagine looking at someone whos played every spider-man video game, watched every spider-man movie, every spider-man animation and has 37 spider-man toys and say they're not a fan because they haven't read Dan Slott Spider-Man
You can argue that these fans are missing out, or that they might not know the characters as well as people who have read them, but it doesn't change the fact that people ARE fans. This gamekeeping behavior is incredibly cringe
In the real world most people don't care how well you speak spanish or where your birth certificate says you're from, it's much more nuanced than that, and I think it's important to keep that in mind.
Also re: the discussion currently going on about who's a real latino and who isn't, I think both sides of the argument are very short-sighted and could use a little more empathy.
Like, if the children or grandchildren of latinos born in the US aren't latinos, then why do they still experience xenophobia? Why was it such a big issue, for example, for Rachel Zegler to play Snow White? These people are socialized as Latinos whether you like it or not
rewatching the bad bunny halftime show and thinking damn how cool would it be if Marvel had a hero that represented Latin America and Latinidad as a whole and whose very name was a reflection of that. They should get on that
