But despite our vital roll in the pandemic, frontline health care workers who are unaffiliated with local hospitals, like my independent direct primary care practice, are being neglected in Florida vaccine distribution. This needs to be addressed ASAP. @MiamiHerald@TB_Times
@GovRonDeSantis@aafp@dpcalliance@AOAforDOs I’ve screened & treated hundreds of covid patients; doing my best to ease the burden on local hospitals while putting myself & staff in harms way (and while not ideal, like most frontline providers, more than willing to do so).
@Kriseman We no longer play since it’s no longer safe. As much as I need this stress reliever unfortunately people are not adhering to social distancing so either it needs to be patrolled and enforced or shut down in my opinion
@Kriseman Mr. Mayor local doc here. I recommend you go to the pickle ball courts @ crescent lake this evening. I have fallen in love with the sport and It has been my main stress reliever with my wife during these crazy times but every day it’s more and more crowded with dozens of people 1
@AmbetterFL Really there’s nothing to discuss. Im a doctor; your interference with my ability to do my job is usual just immoral but during this pandemic it’s downright criminal. I can’t be wasting 25 minutes doing a peer to peer review right now. I got the approval but shame on your company
@GovRonDeSantis@healthyfla@TB_Times@miamiherald I’m a PCP in St. Pete & am flooded caring for patients during #COVID19. Mine & my staffs time can’t be wasted doing peer2peer for necessary testing which we are currently doing now with the insurance company @AmbetterFL
@mcuban Long story short healthcare is a mess these days but I really believe DPC practices like mine which give patients affordable access to primary care (thus preventing issues from festering and health expenses from occurring) could be a big part of the solution
@mcuban Mark, you ever hear of Direct Primary Care? DPC docs don’t take any insurance, & instead have more time and communication with my patients cause I’m not spending most of my day meeting the insane demands to get reimbursed by third parties whether it by private or gov insurance.1
@mcuban The tricky thing is every insurance has a different formulary. It’s purposeful convoluted and burdonsome cause they know the typical practice rarely has time to meet every demand from every different carrier.
@mcuban if they require a brand cause their symptoms are not controlled and they can’t afford it that’s when we need to reach out to the rep. Insurance likes to see that we exhausted several cheaper drugs before we got to another one.
@mcuban half my patients have insurance and half don’t. During orientation I tell them there’s usually affordable options out there for meds and I have them download @goodrx even with insurance meds are cheaper as a self pay lots of times.
@AnthonyClose Very cool. Oyster farms and kelp farms (not sure if that’s possible in our climate) are great modalities to counter some of the ramifications of global warming.
@aglorios@tjstaple I’d like to think my several phone calls to multiple Florida reps made a difference but I’m guessing @tjstaple and @drleegross played a bigger roll. Thanks for all you do!
@Kriseman@stpetecatalyst And show you how my practice works and how the city or any small business can save money while providing high quality affordable medicine.
@Kriseman@stpetecatalyst Mr. Mayor, I have a new doctor office called LevMed on MLK. It’s one first direct primary care offices in st pete. I’m able to offer affordable care to st pete residents with or without insurance. It’s truly primary care the way it should be. would love to talk to your staff....
Anyways like you, I believe health care is a right not a privilege but I do think practices like my own can be a large part of the solution to our health care system. If you’re interested I’d love to talk to you or one of your reps some more. Either way you have my vote.
@AndrewGillum@ChrisKingFL I’m a family doctor (& fellow So Florida native & also FC Martin Alumni:)) who just started my own practice in @StPeteFL called #LevMedHealth. I truly believe my concert could be part of the solution when tackling the quagmire of US healthcare.
In addition I don’t have the overhead of the typical practice that has to hire staff just to process & submit insurance claims. That’s why I’m able to be more accessible and affordable. it’s really a win-win for me and the patient.
