There is no other professional sport where a dominant athlete is expected to willingly skip races or matches.

Football teams leading the league—or even those that have already secured the title mathematically—are never asked to stop winning matches.

Sinner and Alcaraz are not expected to skip ATP 1000 events just to give someone else a chance to win.

Duplantis is never asked to deliberately avoid winning a pole vault competition at a Diamond League meeting.

In sport, you should win because you are the best athlete on the day or under those particular circumstances—not because someone else hands you the victory.
