They hate seeing an open, resilient economy flourish in one of the world’s most contested regions. @BadrJafar

[Special Envoy for Business & Philanthropy @uaesebp]

In a @WSJ opinion piece, @BadrJafar argues that Iran's attacks on the #UAE are an assault on an idea: that an open, diversified economy can thrive in one of the world's most contested regions.

With 77% of GDP from non-oil sectors, $2 trillion in sovereign wealth, and a track record of absorbing every crisis since 1980 and coming back stronger, the UAE's fundamentals haven't changed.

Iran set out to destroy an idea. It has only made the case for it stronger.

Met a dear friend yesterday, I am super inspired by his resilience. At a very young age his parents sent him away (against his will) to boarding school. Then to schools for the most troubled kids.

He told me he had some really really bad people in his class. He had every reason to break. He didn’t. He kept fighting, kept pushing. Thank God today he’s a super successful businessman and a leader in his industry.

When I asked him how his father is, he said: “Ahh, he has to go to the hospital for a procedure. Even though it’s very difficult for me, let me do it anyway.” And right there, he called his father, asked about his health and told him he loves him.
His father is going through treatment, sadly my friend doesn’t have the full picture of what’s going on. Having him in my prayers.
