Urgent Statement from The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation

“Tonight, at approximately 10 p.m. Gaza time, a bus carrying more than two-dozen members of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation team, local Palestinians working side-by-side with the U.S. GHF team to deliver critical aid, were brutally attacked by Hamas. At the time of the attack, our team was en route to one of our distribution centers in the area west of Khan Younis.

We are still gathering facts, but what we know is devastating: there are at least five fatalities, multiple injuries, and fear that some of our team members may have been taken hostage. We condemn this heinous and deliberate attack in the strongest possible terms. These were aid workers. Humanitarians. Fathers, brothers, sons, and friends, who were risking their lives everyday to help others. Our hearts are broken and our thoughts and prayers are with every victim, every family, and every person still unaccounted for.

This attack did not happen in a vacuum. For days, Hamas has openly threatened our team, our aid workers, and the civilians who receive aid from us. These threats were met with silence.

The GHF holds Hamas fully responsible for taking the lives of our dedicated workers who have been distributing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people at the foundation’s sites in central and southern Gaza.

Tonight, the world must see this for what it is: an attack on humanity. We call on the international community to immediately condemn Hamas for this unprovoked attack and continued threat against our people simply trying to feed the Palestinian people.

We will release additional information once it becomes available. Despite this heinous attack, we will continue our mission to provide critical aid to the people of Gaza.”

AJA Statement – Albanese Government imposes antisemitic sanctions against Israeli ministers

The Australian Jewish Association (AJA) is appalled by reports that the Albanese Government is imposing sanctions on ministers of the Israeli Government. This action represents a hostile and unjustified attack on a democratic ally and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

This government's willingness to engage with authoritarian regimes, including Holocaust deniers like Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, while targeting the world’s only Jewish state, exposes a disturbing double standard. There is no other explanation for this disparity than blatant antisemitism.

This latest act follows the recent banning of Hillel Fuld, an American/Israeli Jewish speaker, from entering Australia, an unprecedented move that further underscores Labor's fixation on undermining Israel and marginalising the Jewish community.

Under the Albanese Government, Australia’s longstanding bipartisan relationship with Israel has been severely damaged. Their actions have emboldened Islamic extremists globally, provided a propaganda win for terrorists, and contributed to a rise in antisemitism at home.

These sanctions not only devastate Israel–Australia relations but also harm Australia’s vital alliance with the United States. We note that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already condemned the move. At a time of increasing geopolitical instability, such reckless behaviour is diplomatically irresponsible.

The contrast is stark: a Prime Minister who is silent on abuses by China, Iran, and others who threaten Australia, but eager to lecture and penalise a small democratic nation defending itself against terror. The double standards are glaring and indefensible.

Labor MPs like Josh Burns and Mark Dreyfus highlight their Jewish heritage when convenient but are notably absent when their own government attacks Israel. Silence in the face of injustice is complicity.
We call on the Opposition and crossbench MPs to unequivocally oppose these sanctions.

Antisemitism must not go unchallenged. AJA supports Israel's firm response, including financial disengagement from the Palestinian Authority. A major expansion of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria (West Bank) would send a clear message to Labor that Jewish sovereignty is not up for negotiation.

Israel and its allies, including the Trump administration, would be entirely justified in considering reciprocal measures, including diplomatic restrictions or closing the Australian office in Ramallah in response to this disgraceful policy.
