The average citizen has been fed so much mediocrity by corrupt and greedy politicians, that our buggest obstacle to bringing the change we all want is ourselves.
Not the corrupt politicians.
Solving Kenya's problems is NOT our biggest problem.
Our biggest problem is the lack of confidence in our ability to set aside tribalism, cynysm, and apathy.
We love to see monsters, even when they don't exist.
We believe way too much in conspiracy theories.
Think about this.
Kisumu County has 1.2 million people.
The county today employs about 6,000 people.
That is 0.5% of the population.
In 2024-2025, this 0.5% of the population, took 63% of the entire county budget.
0.5% of the county population, consumed 63% of the budget in salaries alone.
This right here, CANNOT BE THE PURPOSE OF GOVERNMENT.
IT JUST CANNOT BE.
CANNOT BE.
What happened to the remaining 37%?
This is a county with a 40% poverty rate.
That decided that it's first order of business, was to devote 63% of the entire budget, to 0.5% of the population.
I understand that not everyone is a math nerd. But a C+ student in Jamuhuri High School can spot the insanity in this math.
WE ARE TALKING ABOUT GOVERNMENT.
WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO SERVE CITIZENS.
In the remaining 37%:
Take out KSH 491 million for travel.
Korea. Ethiopia. UAE. Uganda. Tanzania. Morocco. DRC. The Netherlands. Egypt. UK.
I am not sure there is a country Kisumu County has not visited.
On at least 4 occasions - people reportedly with brains, are catching flights, and heading to UK public parks, apparently to meet "friends of Kenya".
From Kisumu County - a county with a 40% poverty rate.
They charge around KSH 500,000 each.
For 9 days of hanging out in a public park in London.
Catering, at KSH 172 million.
This county that is spending close to KSH 500 million on insanely wasteful travel, is spending A BUG FAT ZERO on bursaries.
ZERO!
This entire county, led by a supposed professor, spent KSH 148 million on education.
In the entire county, in the entire year.
So, please understand.
The county with a 40% poverty rate started by dropping 63% of the budget on 0.5% of the population.
From the remanining 37% - it took KSH 491 million to waste on travel.
To send idiots to London public parks.
It then took KSH 172 million for catering - for the 0.5% in government.
At this point, we have not accounted for ONE SHILLING spent on rent. utilities. cars. fuel.
ETC.
My point, is this:
You should not be surprised to learn that only 10% of the budget served the average citizen.
And, when I tell Kenyans that this insanity must stop, that this economic apartheid must stop, I am told that we cannot do anything about it.
Cowardice of the highest degree.
When I point out that our laws limit spending on salaries to 35% of the budget, and Kisumu is spending almost double that (63%), I am told that we are at the mercy of thieves.
It cannot be this way. Ladies and gentlement.
Are we really a country that accepts that 3% of us can destroy lives and futures of 97% of Kenyans by virtue of winning elections?
Is that who we really are?
Where are our proverbial gonads?
Change Must Happen.
@WilliamsRuto we are just tired of you just leave KENYA 🇰🇪 where it is, “Bankrupt” under your stewardship. We have no future in this kind of leadership
