I am learning so much about dyslexia and the complexities of language from Dr. Susan Koceski from @OaklandSchools.
Another reminder of the momentous task that learning to read and write is for all students.
Feeling so happy to have spent time this morning with an awesome class of third grade Laker Online students! Thank you Adonis Jamison for sharing your students with me! 🤩#Lakers2020
So lucky to have these amazing literacy coaches to collaborate with to continue to support teachers as they provide instruction virtually to our WB students @Jen_Bennett5 and @LevinLitCoach#makeitcountWB
I am proud to be recognized during teacher appreciation week with the amazing Sheiko staff! The dedication to student learning and well-being is evident everyday. We truly are all in this together! #WBstrong#WBProud
In the coming days, I’ll be working to ensure that our seniors graduate and that no child is held back as a result of the COVID-19 school closure.

Earlier today, the Michigan Department of Education issued a memo that caused confusion & panic among schools, teachers, & students. Let me be clear: the memo does not mean that school work done during mandatory school closure won’t “count” toward grades, credits, or graduation.
@bdavisHPS @freep “Everyone won’t get exactly the same thing, so no one gets anything?” That’s not a 21st Century approach to education. Meanwhile, many schools in the country aren’t even closed. Can Michigan afford for all their students to fall behind?
