I've reached the point in faith where I have to repent for having endorsed gun ownership. I doubted whether it's literal that Jesus said you would die by the sword for using it. You would, because you are supposed to have faith instead. It protects you from everything already.

Entering the faith has given me a connection to people I've never had before, and I had no idea how words and feelings affect other people, because I had never felt them before. It's not that I never tried. I did; God hides from people for their benefit sometimes.

I want to openly apologize to everyone where I've started from the presumption that it should be obvious that they are wrong, where I directed anger or self-righteousness. It's not a faith-oriented way to be, and not Christian either.

The main consequence being that I'm going to stop being angry or self-righteous at people whom I disagree with, and I will respect that they might have a reason I can or can't understand for thinking what they do.

I've gradually found Jesus over the lest 12 or so years, and in doing so, I've arrived to paraphrase two passages; "A house divided cannot stand" and "the father's house has many mansions". It's been vividly illustrated to me that people can have wildly divergent beliefs...

which are entirely justified from their perspective, and that faith is a uniting element which a person can appeal to to obtain understanding of another. There may not even be an explanation you can understand, but you should keep an open mind; that it makes honest sense to them.

It's obvious that our military deserves celebration for defeating terrorism, but I also want to take a moment to say a word of remembrance in honor of Todd Beamer who refused to go down without a fight, and in honor of his last words.
