Thrilled to share my appointment as @LibDems Europe Spokesperson by @EdwardJDavey ! Excited to start work on mending the UK’s ties with Europe, champion economic opportunities, and push for a proper, dynamic Youth Mobility Scheme.
EUnity Lewes and @SeahavenIn had a stall at the @LewesLabour 'Mapping the Hope' event in Lewes Town Hall yesterday.
Interesting conversations. People put post-it messages to @Keir_Starmer on our board. Recurring theme? ‘Be Bold' in our relationship with Europe!

Thanks to everyone who came to our packed panel event last night, especially to our panelists, Bernard Brown (@ReformUKCouncil) and @JamesMacCleary (@LibDems)
Some excellent questions from our members, making sure #Brexit isn’t ignored in this election.

D-Day veteran Eric Chardin,
"Brexit worries me, I can't help feeling that it would be an awful shame if, we've gone through so much trouble to do, to collect the European nations together, to break it all up now would be a crying shame"
So you thought we’d reached Peak Brexit? Watch British Paratroopers who after being dropped into Sannerville, France, to commemorate D-Day, had to show their passports to the French Douane…
@Nigel_Farage musty be so proud…
Businesses describe the government’s new #Brexit border control checks as a “disaster” - lorries carrying meat, cheese and cut flowers being held for up to 20 hours.

On #EuropeDay, we honour Robert Schuman's vision of a united, peaceful, and thriving Europe.
We celebrate the people who built our Union.
And those who keep building it every day.
This day belongs to all Europeans—the dreamers and the builders.
Together, we are stronger.
Thanks to everyone who attended our @paulmasonnews event last night in Lewes on ‘What do we do if America turns its back on Europe?'
What a rich, informative and thought-provoking talk, which left us all pondering the UK's place in the world order.

On many issues where public opinion was bitterly divided (e.g. banning smoking in pubs, or legalisation of same-sex marriage), it moved to strong support once the decision was taken & implemented.
Not so with Brexit, where it hasn't rallied around, but shifted steadily against
Brexit was a bad idea that was doomed to fail - and it has. A responsible govt that cared about growing our economy would be looking for ways to align more closely with the EU to benefit British business. Instead we get Rwanda and Trussonomics. #GeneralElectionNow
