Today, I bade farewell to outgoing CEO Sekou Amadou Bah of Orange Sierra Leone and welcomed new CEO Madam Aicha Toure. During their courtesy visit, I emphasized the importance of good services and competitive prices for citizens.
I reassured Orange leadership that the Government is committed to creating an environment to support private sector investment.
Honored to have been received by His Excellency the President @julius_maadabio. I salute his clear vision and unwavering commitment to accelerating digital development in #SierraLeone. @Orange_sierra remains fully engaged to build a strong, inclusive digital future.
His Excellency, The President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Officially Inaugurates the Orange Sierra Leone Data Center in Bo, SL.
Orange Sierra Leone has commissioned its brand new Data Centre in Bo City, a major step to strengthen data security, reliability, and service continuity across the country. The facility is a full-scale replica of Orange Sierra Leone’s Data Centre in Freetown, serving as a disaster recovery hub so that emergencies, outages, or natural disasters do not disrupt digital services nationwide.
Strategically located in the South of Sierra Leone, the new center helps extend digital infrastructure to rural and regional communities, especially in the southern and eastern corridors, including Makeni, Kono, and Kenema. It will better segregate and balance network traffic - improving connectivity in underserved areas.
With an investment of over 23 million Euros, this project shows how public–private partnerships can power the digital infrastructure that drives innovation, inclusion, and economic transformation.
At the commissioning in Bo on Saturday, 29 November 2025, His Excellency President, Dr Julius Maada Bio, reaffirmed his government’s commitment to enabling private investment and digital transformation. He emphasised the need for robust cybersecurity, protection of citizens’ data, and action against cyberbullying and cybercrime. He highlighted that while infrastructure matters, investing in people and skills remains central to Sierra Leone’s future.
Voices from the Inauguration:
Salima Monorma Bah, Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation, noted that since 2018, technology has been at the heart of the government’s development priorities, with strong progress in connectivity and digital services.
Hon. Matthew Nyumah, Leader of Government Business in Parliament, praised the move, noting that a second data center means continuity of digital services even if the Freetown hub is affected by unforeseen circumstances.
Brelotte BA, Director General of Sonatel Group and Chairman of Orange Sierra Leone’s Board, underscored the center’s role in data sovereignty and resilience, stressing that digital transformation must be inclusive.
Sekou Amadou Bah, CEO of Orange Sierra Leone, described the Bo Data Center as a bold investment to expand digital and financial services and power innovation across Bo and beyond.
For Orange Sierra Leone, this is not a one-off milestone but part of a long-term commitment to investing in sustainable, resilient digital infrastructure. By building systems that are energy-efficient, disaster ready, and future focused, Orange Sierra Leone is reaffirming its role as a trusted partner in Sierra Leone’s digital and economic transformation today and for generations to come.
