Last week, Equity’s General Secretary, Paul W Fleming, appeared on LBC News to address the growing issue of unauthorised filming during theatre performances.
His comments follow a post-show call-out from Amber Davies, currently staring in the West End, who publicly condemned an audience member for filming during a show.
The incident highlighted how filming without permission jeopardises performers' safety, dignity, and the enjoyment of the whole audience.

Imelda Staunton puts plainly what creatives have been screaming for years. Funding the arts doesn't make your children less likely to get a good job; it equips them to thrive in a great career! Culture belongs to all; not the wealthy.

£183.60 for Spotlight are you having a lafff. Or pay monthly but they get an extra £15 off you taking it to almost £200?!
It really is cheaper to be richer man
And we get so little from spotlight in return. I've had no work this year, and none lined up for next
@gurfeh_ Please don't spend that much, it's seriously not worth it, despite what people say on here. Find yourself a friend and spend a few hours doing it with a good camera, perhaps even some local photography students / enthusiasts.
Be safe though.
The greatest thing to happen in Labour Conference....dare I say 2023 so far:
Mark Drakeford -
"Aneurin Bevan said that he was 21 before he met a Tory.
We want to give young people in Wales that same opportunity."
Fantastic 😍😂

I dont want to get any friends in hot water so I won't be mentioning names of people/companies, but some smaller regional commercial tours and seasonal events are really, really taking the piss with their fees. a lil thread 🧵
@HannahKenifick I think it's a disgrace personally. In what world is £380 for 3 images okay??? That's rent... or 2 car payments... or 3 big shopping trips... even a last minute holiday....
The WGA and AMPTP have reached a tentative agreement. This was made possible by the enduring solidarity of WGA members and extraordinary support of our union siblings who stood with us for over 146 days. More details coming after contract language is finalized. #WGAstrike
@accordingtofitz Ciaran, you're a brilliant writer. Doubt is something you'll live with forever, so don't let it rule you just because you decided to follow your dream of being an artist 🎭
Top tip for casting agents/agencies; please don't send actors documents we need to edit, in PDF format. I can't afford my rent, let alone having to subscribe to Adobe.
@EquityUK I can't DM you anymore because I can't afford to pay to subscribe to Twitter (ridiculous anyway).
Put a rally on in Wales, South Wales and North Wales. You cannot seriously expect creatives who live all over the country to travel to Manchester or London.
I think ticket offices at railway stations are one of those things that remind of what a society should actually be. Real jobs and real interactions , and community can sometimes be placed above shareholder dividends. It's a choice we can make. #SaveTicketOffices
