Great to have a strong united voice behind this. Diolch to leaders from across the Welsh Health, Care and Patient space who co-signed this letter. We stand ready to support @WGHealthandCare and health service leaders to define, measure and eradicate corridor care in 🏴.👇🏾
Proud to make my first contribution in the Senedd chamber today, raising concerns about GP services in Wales and the challenges of recruiting and retaining doctors.
Access to local healthcare remains a key priority for communities across Afan Ogwr Rhondda.
Next week is #NationalBloodDonorWeek!🩸
Did you know a donation only takes an hour of your time?
But the benefits could last a lifetime for patients across Wales ❤️

The best way to spend this money better would be to spend a fraction on it on fully funding workforce recommendations. What’s great for clearing waiting lists? More registrars and future consultants/GPs
Reports that the Government plans to slash planned doctor numbers and rely on AI are a massive, dangerous gamble.
"It is crushingly disappointing to see Government apparently planning to simply accept that the low number of doctors we have in this country is just a fact of life." says Amit Kochhar, BMA workforce lead.

“Our priorities for the year ahead are clear… a workforce strategy grounded in reality, fair funding in both quantum and distribution, protection of clinical autonomy; and reform that strengthens core general practice”

Rest in peace to Dr Aggrey Burke, the NHS’ first Black consultant psychiatrist.
Here's a very good piece from 2022 which maps out his life and formidable career.
A truly significant figure in Black British history who deserves continued recognition.

🙌This new contract package in Wales will mean further progress on improving working conditions, continuing the journey towards pay restoration, tackling medical unemployment and delivering long-overdue study budget reform. 🙌
🗞 Politicians will debate later today on the growing issue of corridor care. A recent report showed there had been more than 900 deaths associated with long A&E waits in Wales last year. A joint petition has received more than 10,000 signatures from the BMA and the RCN. The Welsh Government says care in undesignated or non clinical spaces is not acceptable. A constructive suggestion:
The government should have much less propaganda against those who work in the NHS, and much more funding for its budgets.
A majority of doctors supported the recent strike. Why did the Dept of Health suggest otherwise?
