*Importance of the Programs*
*1. New Glovers 10MW Solar Plant Commissioning*
The solar plant strengthens Zimbabwe’s energy security by adding clean, reliable power to the national grid. It reduces dependence on imports, provides stable electricity for industry and mining in Midlands, and creates jobs for local communities. The project advances Vision 2030’s goal of energy self-sufficiency and supports the transition to a green economy.
*2. National Traditional Cookout Competitions*
The cookout celebrates Zimbabwe’s cultural heritage by showcasing traditional foods, recipes, and indigenous crops. It promotes nutrition, food security, and entrepreneurship for women and youth, while boosting cultural tourism. Hosting the national event in Kwekwe highlights Midlands Province’s role in preserving identity and fostering unity.
Honourable Owen Ncube invites everyone in Midlands Province to attend both events in large numbers. All guests are requested to be seated by 0800hrs to ensure smooth proceedings.

His Excellency Advocate Duma Boko encouraged the media to speak and report positively on developmental stories in Africa, noting that foreign media had a tendency of describing Africa as an area of starvation and pestilence. Stories are exaggerated and of failure yet there are so many stories of success to report. He added that it was the responsibility of African media to correct the narrative and clearly note Africa as a continent rising.
Today, we mark a significant milestone in our nation's path towards restoration and spiritual rejuvenation, dear fellow Zimbabweans.
This afternoon, at State House, it is our esteemed privilege to welcome back the revered ancestral remains of our forebears, accompanied by the repatriated Zimbabwe Bird, a symbol of great national importance. For over a century, these venerated artifacts, embodying our essence and identity, were wrongfully removed from their rightful home during the tumultuous period of colonial domination.
The Zimbabwe Bird's return transcends the recovery of a mere artifact; it signifies the return of a national icon that epitomizes our sovereignty. By laying our ancestors to rest in their native soil, we reclaim the dignity of our heritage and take a monumental step towards rectifying past injustices. Our history is being restored to its entirety, marking a triumph for our cultural legacy, our collective identity, and future generations.
