@durresh1@sainsburys In my original replies I hoped I would have made it easier to understand that every situation is different but there are a multitude of valid reasons to park a police vehicle in that bay for a variety of different situations
@arusbridger He did praise it. Faintly but discernibly. “Much of the book is a thoughtful, if prolix, analysis of the tectonic changes [...] that the internet is effecting on journalism”. There’s your cover line for the paperback
🇪🇺 On behalf of Lewisham I’ve written to @theresa_may to ask for a People’s Vote on any Brexit deal. Lewisham voted overwhelmingly to Remain in the EU & our councillors have unanimously voted to support a #PeoplesVote too! 🇪🇺
Sounds like they are presuming Janet Daby isn’t coming back. Which is probably true, but a shame electorate is being taken quite that much for granted https://t.co/pwdrTh79gA
I’m at my first @LewishamCouncil meeting tonight. @damienegan has presented his cabinet, and I’m particularly delighted that he has appointed my Sydenham ward colleague @ChrisBestUK as Deputy Mayor of Lewisham
@clogsilk do you know what turnout was like for Lewisham East selection? 455 seems strangely low, but have no idea how Labour membership breaks down between different Lewisham constituencies.
The good people at @The999Club are crowdfunding for their #SummerShelter for homeless people. If you can help, please do so here https://t.co/OZaf8hH3K6
@running_past @Augusta_74 But that’s engagement, right there! And we have a huge issue with that. 37 per cent turnout is “good” for local elections but it is risible in reality. Pankhurst, Scottish Martyrs etc etc deserve better... (sorry, got me started)
#Lewisham is now a one party borough - 54 Labour councillors; 1 Labour mayor. Not good for democracy & accountability whatever the party. We need PR! #FairVotesNow
@running_past @clogsilk They only had funding for one or two target wards as I understand it. Lee Green wasn’t one of them. Not that it made much difference elsewhere
