@briebriejoy@NobleQAli less about the sleepwear and more about normative formality of 'smart casual' and all the fuckery that entails. I literally got reported for wearing Jordans while rotating in a god damn Sports Med clinic. Meanwhile LL bean ass MFers moving scott free. Them vests disrespectful...
@briebriejoy@NobleQAli This is drifting into 'professionalism' dialogue to me. And that shit is and always has been a racist ass dog whistle. I'm an ivy league physician and I wear Jordans and joggers in the hospital and my relationship with patients is way better than white coat wearing motherfuckers
@andyiswright@briebriejoy@cmkshama I thought the same but also it's part of her working class reality so fuck lighting and mics. Zohran cult of personality is not the goal here.
@briebriejoy@NerdeenKiswani I will once again beat the drum for collectively cooking. We cook once Sunday with a group of people who share the labor and the costs. We can meal prep 3 to 4 dishes of whatever cuisine we want. We get variety, sustainable labor, and community.
@Shepherds4Good It's such a bad look. Like of course state imprisonment for trumped up terrorism support charges against movement solidarity folks is bad in all cases. Doesn't matter if you didn't like the dude. The fedjacketing shit Leith on also isn't helping.
@ryangrim@briebriejoy@ajamubaraka I hate idpol as much as the next guy but if we keep anything from 2020 it should probably be critique of white leftists continuing to marginalize black leftists to the left of them as well as those who ignore that sordid historical dynamic
@briebriejoy Is the answer to cook multiple huge portions of dishes collectively in community? We literally do this with friends every Sunday and always have a freezer full of meals.
@briebriejoy@zunguzungu The issue is nobody lives collectively, shares in the labor, or shares in knowledge. We have no connection to ancestral recipes or practices. Of course we wouldn't be able to cook. School doesn't care about those life skills. Just needs to crank out a worker.
@briebriejoy Perhaps the idea that individually preparing meals for yourself is silly. Collectivize your resources and labor. Share skills, recipes, and tools. You'll get so much more variety with equivalent work.
@justinpodur Loved both of your analyses. I forget whether it was you or Mikey but there was a reference to someone who wrote something about writers doing dystopian/authoritarian turns of their revolutionaries in media. Like they did with Killmonger. Do you recall it?
@briebriejoy Ezra has been a neoliberal chump his whole life. Just your run of the mill anti-communist NYT social democrat with just a bit more clout than usual because he used to use science and explainers more in his liberal news. I no longer listen to millionaires with offices on K street
