A songbird got trapped in the bottom of an eight-foot porch post.
Captain Mitchell (AKA the Animal MacGyver) responded to the call. He attached bird netting to the end of a rod and lowered it into the post. Once she hopped onto the netting, he was able to safely pull her out!

Galaxy was super excited to see her family again! She was reported missing last April after she was stolen from her backyard. She was brought in to us as a stray and thankfully, had a microchip!

We are grateful to not only provide care to dogs, cats, horses, chickens, pigs, birds, bunnies, and more, but we also love our "creepy critters" and "slimy animals" too!

Update 2: Please continue to report any bear sightings in Lexington to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife or local police. If you see a bear in town, do not approach it. The bear is not in its natural habitat and is most likely trying to leave the city.

Due to high animal intakes numbers throughout July and August, we will be closed to the public on Friday August 16th to complete a detailed cleaning of our facility.
