The Arbitral Tribunal has published its Award in #PCA Case No. 2017-06: Dispute Concerning Coastal State Rights in the Black Sea, Sea of Azov, and Kerch Strait (Ukraine v. the Russian Federation).

This is an arbitration under Annex VII to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (#UNCLOS) concerning coastal State rights in the Black Sea, Sea of Azov, and Kerch Strait.

The arbitration was instituted on 16 September 2016, when Ukraine served on the Russian Federation a Notification and Statement of Claim under Annex VII to UNCLOS.

Il s’agit d’un arbitrage en vertu de l’annexe VII de la Convention des Nations Unies sur le droit de la mer (#CNUDM) concernant les droits de l’État côtier dans la Mer Noire, la Mer d’Azov et le Détroit de Kertch.

La procédure arbitrale a été initiée le 16 septembre 2016 lorsque l’Ukraine a signifié une Notification et Mémoire en demande à la Fédération de Russie en application de l’annexe VII de la CNUDM.

🏛️ Yesterday marked the 119th anniversary of the opening of the Second #HaguePeaceConference, one of the first statements of the rules of #internationalarbitration between States & the second Founding Convention of the @PCA_CPA.

⚖ Held in 1907, the Second Hague Peace Conference established both the 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 & the 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 when the countries of Latin America all joined the #PCA, paving the way for a more just and peaceful, but also inclusive, world 🌎.

🏛️ Today marks the 127th anniversary of the opening of the 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, which convened for the first time on 18 May 1899 at #HuistenBosch in #TheHague.

�� The delegates would go on to adopt the 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀, which established the @PCA_CPA as the first global mechanism for the settlement of disputes between States:

In accordance with Procedural Order No. 2, the Award will be published on the PCA Case Repository in due course.

The arbitration was instituted on 16 September 2016, when Ukraine served on the Russian Federation a Notification and Statement of Claim under Annex VII to UNCLOS.
